Have you bumped into barriers that have slowed down or derailed your research? Right now at #TSD24, a panel of researchers is sharing tales of how they cleared their own research hurdles. Stefanie Fingler, MBA, director of Research Operations in the Department of Medicine, is helping to standardize research coordinator qualifications and compensation to make it easier to hire and retain these vital workers. Francisco Cartujano Barrera, MD, assistant professor of Public Health Sciences, struggled to enroll Latinos into his lung cancer screening study. Now he's leveraging MyChart to reach patients who might be interested in enrolling. Andrew Dylag, MD, an associate professor of Pediatrics, studies how neonatal oxygen exposure in preterm infants impacts long-term lung health using the NEO-DReAMS data repository collaboration. Jinjiao Wang, PhD, RN, associate professor of Nursing, will discuss how she used the Greater Rochester Practice-Based Research Network to support her research on home- and community-based care for older adults. #URochesterResearch

Jin Xiao, DDS, PhD, a dental researcher at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, was chosen to deliver today’s Robert G. Holloway CTSI KL2 Alumni Lecture “because she exemplifies the success of the KL2 program." Xiao’s first-ever grant was a KL2 from the UR CTSI supporting her research into severe tooth decay in children. She artfully leveraged that grant—and many other UR CTSI resources—to build a successful research program and a community perinatal dental clinic. #URochesterResearch
