Winter weather can present unique challenges for feedlot cattle. Here are some tips to help feedlot producers stay ahead of the cold & aim to maintain health and productivity in the yard.
Inspections collect information about livestock facilities and are how the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) determines whether the facility is in compliance with regulations. There are two primary kinds of inspections for livestock operations. Initial inspections help NDEE determine whether a permit is needed. Routine inspections allow the NDEE representative to make sure permitted operations are in compliance with their permit. https://lnkd.in/gBaRfB4m

Another storm this weekend will likely bring snowfall to the Western Corn Belt, with 2-6" bring likely in eastern NE and western IA. Seasonal temperatures arrive later today and the rest of the week will be more typical for New Year's with temperatures in the 20's and 30's. Much colder air arrives this weekend. Be prepared for an extended stretch of temperatures well below freezing with wind chills getting into the 20 to 40 below range next week. Temperatures should moderate in the western side of the state mid-week but eastern NE looks to possibly stay locked in the deep freeze for a while.
