Honoured to represent @UNOPS at the Ukraine Mine Action Conference #UMAC2024 hosted jointly by #Switzerland and #Ukraine in Lausanne. This important event highlights the critical role of mine clearance in rebuilding societies and economies devastated by conflict. With over 25% of Ukraine’s territory affected by explosive remnants of war, modern technology and collaboration will be essential to ensuring a safer, more secure future. UNOPS has been at the forefront of mine action efforts for 25 years, supporting partners like @United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and @UNDP in clearing land, building operational capacity, and providing victim assistance. From Somalia and Sudan to Nepal and Palestine, our work has laid the groundwork for safe development. #MineAction In #Ukraine, UNOPS is proud to support the State Special Transport Service, under a $15 million project funded by the Government of the Netherlands. We are providing essential demining tools and equipment, including a robotic demining system, which allows teams to safely clear land while reducing exposure to threats. UNOPS' technical expertise in the procurement of mine action-related goods and services has been instrumental in achieving this remarkable milestone. The Ukraine office is strongly supported by the Peace and Security Cluster from New York, blending local expertise with PSC institutional capacity. As the discussion at #UMAC2024 reconfirms, let’s remember that mine action is not just about safety - it’s about creating the conditions for recovery, prosperity, and hope for future generations. We remain committed to helping Ukraine and other countries worldwide in their journey towards a landmine-free future. #RebuildingUkraine #UNOPS

🎉 I am thrilled to announce the publication of "Guidance for Developing Inclusive Health Infrastructure," a collaboration between UNOPS, WaterAid, Arup, and the African Development Bank Group. 🔑 Did You Know? To achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 in LMICs, we need an estimated $371 billion annually. With 4.5 billion people not fully covered by essential health services, including 1 billion people lacking access to adequate healthcare facilities, this publication is vital for building resilient, inclusive healthcare systems that serve everyone, especially vulnerable communities. 🌍 The Guidance for Developing Inclusive Health Infrastructure provides a comprehensive roadmap for creating #health #infrastructure that is not only #inclusive and #sustainable but also transformative. Access to quality healthcare is essential for human development and well-being, and this guidance empowers governments and practitioners to address disparities and improve health outcomes for all. 💡 Inside, you’ll find practical strategies, real-world case studies, and expert insights to tackle the diverse challenges in health infrastructure. It’s a valuable resource to inspire our collective efforts! 📚 Read the guidance and share it with your colleagues! Let’s work together to ensure that healthcare is accessible, inclusive, and empowering for every individual and community. 💪 #InclusiveHealth Many thanks to Seema Gaikwad, Geoffrey Morgan, Sam Stratton-Short, Dasha Moschonas, Jose Ahumada, Sara Candiracci, Mei-Yee Man Oram, Hayley Gryc, Vita Sanderson, Iwalda Bezuidenhout, Tassel Bulanda, Ndidza Chisanu, Chelsea Huggett, Ulemu Mbengwani, Natasha Mwenda, Priya Nath, Senghort Ret, ADAMSON SAKALA, Bernice S., Andrea Shaffie, Kyla Smith, Happiness Willbroad, Babatunde Omilola, Ph.D., Ellen Barnie Peprah, MD for their contributions! I feel grateful for leading this amazing organization - UNOPS - for almost 2 years. Once a year we organize in Copenhagen a retreat gathering around 200 #UNOPS global leaders, coming from all parts of the world, representing our team of almost 6000 colleagues who work in almost 100 countries. This one was special. As we approach the conclusion by the end of 2024 of our Comprehensive Response Plan (the structural reforms put in place following the crisis faced in 2022), this year’s retreat GLN2024 was focused on outlining our vision of #UNOPS in the future and preparing our new strategic plan towards 2029. As solutions-based, mission-driven and impact-oriented organization - and with our #getthingsdone culture- we are committed to: Scale-up and speed-up delivery to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and ensure all people have access to human rights, peace and sustainable development.

Public procurement can be a powerful tool to promote sustainable economic growth, fairness and inclusion. Today, on World Day for Decent Work, we’ve launched a new report that explores how governments and procurement professionals can leverage the purchasing power of public procurement to foster productive employment, safe work environments, and social protection. The report offers practical insights on integrating decent work principles into procurement policies and processes, emphasizing the need to support small and medium-sized enterprises, create job opportunities for disadvantaged groups, and prevent human rights abuses, such as child labor and forced labor. “Public procurement is a powerful agent that can create decent work for all – promoting social inclusion, fairness, and value for money,” says our Director of Procurement, Anne-Claire Howard   Read more and download the report: https://bit.ly/3BwW19E | #SDG8

By enhancing the way we work with implementing partners around the world, we can better support governments and communities to advance the #SDGs and promote an equitable future. This week, representatives from across the United Nations are coming together at UN City Copenhagen to explore that and more, during a series of sessions hosted by UNOPS. “We earn the trust of those we support by caring about what they value, and by delivering on our promise to always act in the service of people in need,” said Sonja Leighton-Kone, our Deputy Executive Director, as she opened the week of dialogue.

Regional Director - UNOPS Asia Region at UNOPS

Standing on stage at The Rockefeller Foundation AsiaXchange 2024 felt like being part of something bigger. It struck me as a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we collaborate beyond the usual boundaries. I stood alongside people who are just as committed to green growth and resilience as I am, and it really drove home the potential of regional partnerships that go deeper and wider than traditional setups. We’re talking about partnerships that aren’t just about governments and businesses, but also include communities, activists, and academics. A great example is Southeast Asia's Energy Transition Partnership (ETP). Working with local governments, we’ve helped develop renewable energy policies that have led to real change - like Vietnam’s rapid expansion in solar and wind power, cutting down on fossil fuel dependency and creating new jobs. Another is the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia project. It’s about eight countries coming together to tackle waste management. This isn’t just about policy - it’s about communities, businesses, and governments all finding solutions together that actually work. For me, the biggest takeaway from this event was seeing the power of regional collaboration in action. It’s not just about formal partnerships - it’s about equitable, practical solutions that bring together every sector, every voice, and tackle our toughest challenges head-on. Congratulations to the Rockefeller Foundation for organising this significant event.
