Saw this brilliant cartoon by Alex Krokus on Untitled Animation and thought it would be appreciated by a few! The window for shoehorning your brand into any kind of trend is incredibly narrow. Particularly by the time you've brainstormed it, workshopped it, reviewed it, escalated it, signed it off, etc etc etc 😑 And if your brand people aren't right at the forefront of trends and didn't see it until it was already 50% through it's life cycle but your customers were there at day 1 then you're going to appear even more behind the times. Equally, if your customers aren't big consumers of this kind of social media then they're not going to have the reference point and you're going to look really odd to them, no matter how much a brand manager thinks it's "LOL": the marketing industry is rarely a relevant target audience.
