Ph.D. student Janel Long and Dr. Joe Hanson, associate professor of music education, recently presented at the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Music Research and Teacher Education Conference in Atlanta. The pair presented research posters, and Dr. Hanson presented a research paper on music education alumni perceptions of their undergraduate experiences and subsequent job satisfaction.

We are excited to welcome Kinsey Healy (BM '16, MM '21) and her Houston High School Choir to campus for the University of Memphis Tigerchor concert on November 4 at the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center. Healy has been the Director of Choirs at Houston High School since 2018 and previously taught at Colonial Creative and Performing Arts Middle School in Memphis Shelby County Schools. Mrs. Healy serves as a Mentor Teacher for emerging choral music educators at the University of Memphis and has led seminars about vocal health and technique in her community and at the 2022 TnMEA All-State Conference. Her choirs at Houston High School perform throughout their community and tour annually, with their most recent destinations being Prague, Vienna, and Ireland.

Dr. Martin McCain has been promoted to associate professor of trombone. McCain's dedication to excellence in trombone performance and pedagogy has significantly enriched our trombone choir and brass program fostering a collaborative and inspiring student environment. Dr. Joel Roberts has been promoted to associate professor in the University Libraries. With his expertise in music librarianship, Roberts has been crucial in supporting our students' and faculty's research and creative endeavors. His work directly impacts our students' learning and research experiences, making him an integral part of our academic community. Sam Shoup has been promoted to associate professor of popular music, a recognition that reflects his significant contributions to the field and his dedication to student success. His extensive experience in orchestral and big band arranging and as area coordinator of popular music performance has been invaluable to our university and music program.
