Upbring is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse by empowering children, families and communities.

About us

Upbring is committed to breaking the generational cycle of child abuse by addressing its root causes. We deliver a continuum of services that produces measurable progress in five key markers: safety, life skills, education, health and vocation. Upbring constantly evolves to meet the needs of the children we serve. In the midst of those changes, however, our faith-based roots remain as strong as the day we opened our doors more than 135 years ago. Upbring’s children’s services offer a safe place to grow and thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually. Upbring continues to develop innovative and life changing programs and services for children and families in our communities. We don’t plan to stop - will you continue to join our team?

Our Culture Ambassadors bring our core values to life in every Upbring program across Texas. Today, we celebrate their dedication and impact. 💫 Our Culture Ambassadors recently gathered at Upbring's headquarters in Austin to celebrate our second annual in-person Culture Ambassador Committee meeting. They connected with senior leaders, shared ideas to strengthen our culture, strategized upcoming culture initiatives and enjoyed team-building activities, including an escape room! This year also marks a special milestone—5 years of our Culture Ambassador Committee (CAC)! 🎉 As an organization, we've worked hard to build a culture of care and excellence where employee wellbeing is just as important as the wellbeing of the children and families we serve. The CAC has been a key part in making that happen. Thank you to our Culture Ambassadors for all you do to enrich Upbring's culture and make it a better place for our Warriors and the children we serve. ❤️ #CultureAmbassadors #UpbringWarriors #EmployeeWellbeing

Where did the name Upbring come from? 💭 Here’s the story… Nearly 10 years ago, we transitioned from Lutheran Social Services of the South to Upbring—a name that represents our work to “bring up” children, families and communities by elevating the standards of abuse prevention and child wellbeing. In the child welfare sector, many traditional methods have been in place for decades, but at Upbring, we knew there was room to do more. We critically examined every aspect of our organization, challenging outdated approaches and asking: How can we do better? This journey has led us to develop innovative solutions that allow us to serve children more effectively and help them achieve better outcomes. As we continue to advance child wellbeing in Texas, we’re excited to reintroduce ourselves to you, our supporters, and share the impact of the work we’ve done and the future we’re building. 🔔 Stay tuned for more insights into who we are and what drives us forward.

At this year’s Texas Child Care Administrators Conference, Upbring Warriors from our Foster In Texas (FIT) and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) programs, along with our Senior Leadership Team, gathered to learn, share and grow. The conference provided key insights into upcoming changes to the foster care system and introduced new strategies to help us better support children and families across Texas. Thank you to Texas Alliance of Child & Family Services for organizing such an inspiring event. It was an honor to be part of important conversations that are shaping the future of child wellbeing. A special highlight this year—Upbring Warrior Maricela Reyes nominated Patricia Rogers with SJRC Texas | Belong for the Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) Employee of the Year Award, and she was selected as the winner! 👏 #TCCAC #TCCAC2024 #ChildWellbeing

🚀 Upbring is proud to introduce VectorPoint™, a groundbreaking, data-driven program designed to transform child welfare by focusing on what matters most—the wellbeing of each child. Developed over eight years, VectorPoint™ provides caregivers with tailored recommendations to support the healing of children who've experienced trauma by tracking their progress and wellbeing while in care. Having already shown success in our Foster In Texas program, Upbring is preparing to expand VectorPoint™ into more of its own programs and offer licensing opportunities to other organizations, enabling broader use of this innovative approach.    Experts like Krystale Bezio, MSW, LCPAA, Upbring Chief Operating Officer, Michael Loo, Upbring President & CEO and Erin Espinosa, PhD, Director of Research at Evident Change and nationally recognized leader in systems reform, emphasize the program's potential to enhance child services.    ✨Watch the video below and read the press release at https://lnkd.in/g4UkKU9j to learn more about VectorPoint™ 🔐 Visit https://lnkd.in/gd55xybq for early access details   #VectorPoint #ChildWellbeing
