Congratulations to the students who graduated from CNA training with Quality Caring Professionals in Philadelphia--and started their first shifts as CNA’s on Friday! These 21 new healthcare professionals were part of a workforce development program that—upon successful course completion—guaranteed their placement at Horsham Center For Jewish Life, rated one of the best long-term care facilities. Kudos to the QCP program founders and instructors—Dr. Angel McCullogh RN and Nicole Watson LPN—for their commitment to teach new CNAs not just with the technical skills of the role, but also with the compassion and professionalism needed to truly excel in a nursing career.

Nurses *actually walked into work on a red carpet this week* at Beckley ARH Hospital, which went all out to celebrate every level of their nurses. YASSS!!!! -These West Virginia heros--ward clerks, CNAs, RN's, and other critical frontline patient staffers--were celebrated every day with appreciations ranging from additional coffee stations, complimentary surprise taco lunches, and after-work treats. This is how to do it! #NurseAppreciationWeek https://lnkd.in/e5sVGe4E

Continuing to honor Nurse Appreciation Week, we celebrate Daniel Gabriel on his way to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Having achieved his CNA certification last summer, Daniel hit the ground running in his role at UF Health--and soon enrolled in a LPN program. Inspired by his faith-based commitment to helping others, his tenacious appetite to learn strongly manifests in appreciation for his mentors: “I feel like I have guidance from the nurses who are going to train me, and from the CNAs who are doing well who want to teach me.” #ThankANurse #NursesWeek

In pursuit of this opportunity, these two determined women yesterday submitted the application to the Department of Homeland Security outlining the case for that department to recognize nursing as STEM--as it already has been by the Department of Veteran Affairs and Department of Labor. https://lnkd.in/gGReFV-F

Bayhealth recently announced that they will build an employee-only childcare center in Milford, Delaware—similar to its existing facility in Dover—intended to help ease the pressures on employees working a 12-hour shift in its hospitals. As another method for recruiting and retaining employees, the hospital system repays student loans up to $30K for multiple in-demand nursing and Allied Health roles, ranging from RNs and LPNs to CNAs, Surgical Technicians, and Phlebotomists. Currently enrolled students and recent graduates can both be eligible, as long as the programs are accredited and recipients commit to working at Bayhealth for up to 3 years.

The Center for Health Workforce Studies in New York State—administered by the State University of Albany—monitors the healthcare workforce, identifies shortage areas, and offers resources for learning about healthcare careers. Among its initiatives includes a collaboration with key stakeholders around New York State, including annual surveys of human resource directors and administrators of health care settings to collect information on recruitment and retention issues. In its most recent report, CHWS data showed that the state demand for home health aides is expected to have grown by 52% between 2016 and 2026; emergency medical technicians and paramedics are expected to grow by 23.4% for the same time period; and surgical technologists and technicians by 16.3%. #WhatsWorkingInWorkforceDevelopment
