There’s one subject that can fill even the most confident providers with dread: progress notes. On top of the intensive time requirement, there’s often a lack of clarity on what “good” clinical documentation looks like—which can lead to stress around what insurance companies might look for in the event of an audit. That’s why we’re excited to host a discussion about efficient, stress-free progress notes with Alma's VP of Clinical, Elisabeth Morray, PhD, Ted Faneuff LISW-S, LMSW, LCSW, MBA, Head of Clinical Operations of Upheal, and Certified Professional Coder Sonda Kunzi

How do you even begin to choose an AI note-taking tool as a therapist? In a profession that's still somewhat synonymous with couches and notepads, changing things up with new technology can be a challenge at first. Worry not! We put together a guide that walks you through what to look out for in AI software so that you can feel more comfortable making your decision. We start with a set of questions you can ask to help you identify your needs, show you what to look out for in existing AI companies, and then introduce you to some of the core essentials vs. exciting nice-to-haves when it comes to note quality and documentation. It’s shocking, but a therapist may be at even more risk than their client. With half of therapists reporting burnout, we need to start paying more attention to identifying and exploring the risk factors: ▪️Burnout out ▪️Vicarious trauma ▪️Own trauma history ▪️High empathy ▪️Internal and external stigma ▪️Lack of helpful supervision ▪️Authoritarian workplace ▪️Self-medication Psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and clinical social workers are most likely to be affected by mental health challenges. And yet they often suffer in silence, for fear of judgment, invasion of privacy, or even the potential loss of their license. We need to do more to support our MHPs. Article link in comments:

A topic our team recently discussed is the end of therapy – it can be tough for both client and therapist alike, even when there are many good reasons that therapy should come to an end, like: 1. You've been threatened by the client 2. Their needs are outside of your therapy scope 3. You have a crush on your client 4. They didn't pay for your services 5. You’ve decided to change professions 6. The client isn't making progress 7. You're moving to a different state (or country) 8. You're burned out and need to downsize your client list From having a crush on your client to experiencing violence (shockingly, 81% of practitioners have 😢 ) we looked at 8 important reasons for needing to discontinue sessions and 7 ways to make the process easier. Thank you, Emily! 💙 Do you have tips from your experience as a mental health professional? Link in comments 👇🏽

Wearables can collect heart rate variability, indices of sleep quality, and much more. 💡 Since psychological and physiological data are intertwined, the rise of wearables offers an exciting opportunity to enhance therapy through real-time data and personalized insights. **What are your thoughts about having this data in conjunction with traditional methods of care?** Analyzing biomarkers with artificial intelligence can play a pivotal role not just in diagnosis and early detection, but also relapse prevention. Thank you for this well-researched, thought-provoking piece Matt Scult, PhD and Meenakshi Kothari 💜.

Thankfully, we're becoming more aware and empowered when it comes to taking care of our mental health. If you're at the start of your journey, you might be wondering whether to choose a coach or a therapist – and what the difference between these actually is! https://lnkd.in/gxJjVhpc It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Tiffany Clomax exploring these topics.
