At our October Coffee & Conversation, Rob Bedenbaugh, Director of Engineering Support at South Carolina Department of Transportation, shared how the state plans to build and support electric vehicle infrastructure throughout South Carolina using the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. SCDOT is gearing up to establish high-speed EV chargers every 50 miles along major interstates, making electric travel more accessible than ever. There are about 3.5 million registered vehicles in South Carolina, with about 20,000 EVs - though that number has nearly doubled each year with the rise of EVs. Thank you to our event series sponsor MTC Federal Credit Union and the many investors who joined us to learn more. #EV #Mobility #Infrastructure

Michelin is celebrating 50 years in the Upstate — with headquarters, research and manufacturing locations — and $266 billion in economic impacts on South Carolina. Congratulations, and we look forward to many years to come! 🎉
Today, we celebrated 50 years of Michelin North America manufacturing in South Carolina and 35 years of being headquartered in Greenville, S.C. To mark the occasion, Dr. Joseph Von Nessen of the University of South Carolina, presented an economic study on Michelin's impact on South Carolina. The economic numbers that he shared are just astounding, and they highlight Michelin's commitment to the communities in which we operate. I invite you to read the full study here and watch the video below, which highlights the study: https://lnkd.in/damgteR6 This report pays homage to all the Michelin people who have made Michelin North America what it is today: A thriving community of People and a winning company. Thank you also to our state and community partners for attending, including Governor Henry McMaster, Representative William Timmons, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Ashely Teasdel, Mayor Knox White of Greenville, Mayor Rick Danner of Greer, President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing Dr. Robert Engelhorn, and representatives of Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Tim Scott and Congressman Jeff Duncan.

Our team recently hosted eight site consultants to experience our region's welcoming business environment and industry-informed workforce pipeline. Kicking it off with a downtown culinary walking tour, we visited Greenville Technical College's Center for Manufacturing Innovation, explored Greenville County Schools' CTE Innovation Center, and took test drives at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC's Performance Driving School. Thank you again to our guests and all who welcomed them to the Upstate! #TeamUpstate #EconDev

What makes Clemson, South Carolina — home to Clemson University — the nation's Best Small College Town? 🎓 In addition to being a charming town located in a favorable climate, it’s a joyous, welcoming community. One example: The Shepherd Hotel in downtown Clemson provides employment opportunities to participants in the ClemsonLIFE program, which prepares students with intellectual disabilities for employment and independent living. "Clemson is a place where a welcoming spirit stemming from its humble beginnings intersect with the excitement of tomorrow and the possibilities that lie ahead,” says commercial property developer Rich Davies, one of the partners in The Shepherd Hotel. https://bit.ly/4eHNSxz #BestCollegeTowns #ClemsonSC

“Together with Redwood Materials, BMW is laying the groundwork for the creation of a fully circular battery supply chain in the U.S.," said Denise Melville, head of sustainability for BMW of North America. “We have said before that the future of BMW was electric, digital and circular, and this agreement brings us a step closer to meeting that goal.” Redwood Materials, which is building a $3.5 billion battery recycling plant in Berkeley County, will get end-of-life batteries from BMW's U.S. network of more than 700 locations for use in recycling programs that recover critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt and nickel. Those minerals can then be used for production of new batteries powering electric vehicles. It's an example of how South Carolina's mobility ecosystem is evolving with technology, demand and sustainability. https://bit.ly/3BgaiaA #Sustainability #EVs

What a *sweet* time we had at our Women’s Networking Event at the Truist Culinary & Hospitality Innovation Center (CHI), a facility of Greenville Technical College. 🍪 Director Jessica Allendorf kicked us off with insights on how CHI is bridging the gap between local job opportunities and Greenville’s booming food scene. Inside CHI’s full-service educational kitchen, we got creative with Pastry Chef Farren Smith — building macaroons, decorating sugar cookies and even sampling some of Chef Farren’s signature cookies. Big thanks to the 50 women who joined us for treats, networking and great company! #WomenInBusiness #WomenInLeadership #CulinaryEducation
