UAMschool4cities is a project funded by the Erasmus+ framework of the European Union under Grant Agreement nº 2021-1-PT01-KA220-VET-000033364, which aims to create a learning framework and a training programme for current and future local authority employees to equip them with the necessary skills to manage the uptake of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) services in their city. The project aspires to create a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) programme for professionals of any background interested in entering the local Public Administration mobility sector.

✨Our project transitions into a more hands-on phase this week! 📢 ImAFUSA partners are gathering in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷, at Egaleo Baroutadiko Urban Forest Park to rehearse the demo flights measuring drone service social and environmental impacts that will officially take place in the upcoming months. This general rehearsal demonstrates a use case of the use of drones for 🌬️ air quality measurement in Egaleo city, Athens using a 🚁 drone and an airquality sensor. The impact being tested through this use case concerns #drone #noise. ℹ️ Using drones in this case offers the advantage of having an air quality distribution over a 3D grid, and not in one stable location such as when using monitors, which is very helpful in understanding the sources and patterns of pollutants. But does the annoyance of citizens by the #noise created by the drone outweigh the benefits of air pollution measurement? 🧏 Assessing the annoyance of electric aircraft in general, such as #drones and #flyingtaxis, is crucial for their integration into urban environments, which is why we are continuing to study this within the ImAFUSA project. 🎧 🔊 Noise measurements are not only performed to improve existing noise models but also to investigate the annoyance of ✈️ #aircraft and 🚁drone sounds, which is part of #psychoacoustics. This is the research area concerned with how people perceive noise. The event was further enriched by a roundtable discussion featuring three speakers from the logistics, drone, and insurance sectors.
