Yesterday, we completed our final formal session for cohort 8 in this year’s Urban League of Greater Chattanooga Inclusion by Design Executive Leadership Development Program. It has been a fantastic journey to get to know these great leaders and see them work to refine their skills and abilities and enhance their networks to excel in an executive assignment. “Preparing for & Excelling in the Executive Role” was the final module of the program. We were grateful to have some of our IBD alums join the class for a panel discussion to share their leadership journey and experiences with our group. Your commitment to investing in our community and supporting the Urban League of Greater movement has made a significant impact. The knowledge and experiences you shared yesterday were invaluable and will continue to inspire the future leaders in our community. We also thank Valoria Armstrong, SHRM-CP, PHR, MS for serving as our panel facilitator and local champion.

The National Urban League has declared this #ReclaimYourVote Week of Action, a week dedicated to empowering and mobilizing voters. Today is National Black Voter Day. Election Day is just 46 days away, and the time to prepare, mobilize, and, most importantly, activate together is now. The urgency of this upcoming Election Day should motivate us to act swiftly and decisively. Our Young Professionals Civic Engagement and Community Advocacy chair, Micah Chapman, shared his perspective on the importance of voting. "I vote in every election because it's not just about the presidential race. Every choice we make for the Senate, the House, and local offices impacts our lives and communities. Our votes are our voice in shaping the policies that matter to us, and every race on the ballot is a chance to make a difference." Share your voting stories with us and inspire others to make their voices heard. By sharing your experiences, you can empower others to take action. The National Urban League has declared this #ReclaimYourVote Week of Action. Today, we are focusing on making a plan to vote. Election Day is 48 days away, and now is the time for us to prepare, mobilize, and, most importantly, activate together. Our Young Professionals Professional and Personal Development Chair, Erin Stephens, shared her personal perspective on the importance of voting. "I vote because the quality of my life depends on who's in office. How I'm treated in society, is affected by who's in office. What I can do with my body, depends on who's in office. I vote because my life depends on it. Literally!" Share your voting stories with us and inspire others to make their voices heard.
