Last weekend, I had the honor of attending the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Ronald H. Brown Leadership Awards Gala—a powerful evening dedicated to celebrating Black excellence in our region ✨ UPMC was proud to serve as a sponsor of this incredible event, which recognizes individuals and organizations who uplift the African American community through bold and impactful leadership. This night held personal meaning for me. The Urban League has played a vital role in my own leadership journey, especially through my time with the Urban League Young Professionals To see so many inspiring leaders come together—surrounded by energy, pride, and purpose—was truly moving. From heartfelt tributes to high-energy dancing and live music, the gala was more than an awards ceremony. It was a celebration of culture, resilience, and legacy. Black excellence was everywhere. Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. This is where many were beaten and bloodied while peacefully praying before their march. All they wanted was the ability to exercise their right to vote as Americans who happened to be Black! This is special as my family on my dad's side is from Selma and participated in many of these marches! We must never take for granted our right to vote and the power of our vote.
