Urban Strategies

Business Consulting and Services

We equip, resource and connect faith and community-based organizations so families can reach their full potential.

About us

Since 2003, Urban Strategies has equipped, resourced, and connected faith- and community-based organizations to support children and families in reaching their full potential, with a focus on Latino populations in the United States and Central America. Recognizing the importance of cultural relevance and proximity, we collaborate with Latino-focused community- and faith-based organizations who have long been the trusted first-line responders in their respective communities. Our programs drive community transformation, providing education, resources, and access to services that help children flourish and strengthen families. We believe people are more than numbers, compassion takes action, and leading begins with serving. Guided by our values of Authentic Relationships, Intentional Compassion and Servant Leadership, our team works every day to be better for the children, families and partners we have committed to serve.

What an honor for our President, Lisa Trevino Cummins, to share from her heart and experience about Urban Strategies’ work at today’s For the Good of the Public Annual Summit 2024 in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Center for Christianity and Public Life. “Politics literally means ‘the things concerning the πόλις (polis).’ True politics in the church is not about voting for one candidate or another, but rather about actions resulting from loving our neighbor 24/7 because we love God.” — Lisa Treviño Cummins

Connection, authenticity, and servant hearts are a few of the qualities people of Hispanic Heritage are often known for. Francisco, IT Technical Specialist, is proud of the strong bonds and service-driven attitude of IT and his teammates. "[We're] a strong team...it's a good kind of controlled chaos. There's always something going on...but in the grand scheme of things, we're helping children unite with families, and keeping them safe." He continues, "Everyone [here] helps each other with everything...[you] can tap someone on the shoulder and be ready to help." Thanks for everything you bring to Team US, Francisco, and for being featured in our Hispanic Heritage series! #TeamUS #HispanicHeritageMonth2024 #authenticity

While some of Urban Strategies' work focuses on interventions, there is an equally important body of work that centers on prevention. Through Iglesia Segura, churches in El Salvador partner with agencies and academia to get at the core of some of society's deepest social issues today. We are deeply grateful for and proud of this opportunity to drive healthy change.

I am happy to witness a new group of people who got certified under our IGLESIA SEGURA certification at Urban Strategies, with the support of USAID and Arizona State University. We graduated a group of more than 550 people, with women ready to identify signs of abuse in their surroundings. Men who now know how to be allies with their families, youth who have the tools to establish healthy relationships with their peers, and church leaders who know how to hold their pastors accountable for any sign of abuse. Why this work matter?  The Impact of Low Psychological Safety leads to disengagement, as employees are reluctant to participate actively and contribute their unique perspectives. The resulting stress and anxiety can negatively affect well-being. Our firm belief is that our work impacts individuals and families and profoundly affects workplaces. This underscores the importance of our mission and the need for continued dedication to our cause. And this is just the beginning.
