About us

Fort Worth District established in 1950, Following the disastrous Trinity River floods, and is responsible for water resources development for 66% of Texas. We are also responsible for military and interagency design and construction in Texas and Louisiana. The district covers approximately 140,000 square miles and employs over 1,200. We operate and maintain 25 reservoirs in 6 river basins, 3 hydropower plants and over 350 recreation areas, which receive over 20 million visitors annually. Through FY20, our reservoirs have prevented more than $150 billion in flood damages since their construction. Our civil works mission includes flood risk management, water supply, recreation, hydropower, fish and wildlife mitigation, environmental restoration and stewardship. Additionally, we support projects involving flood control, stream bank protection, clearing, and snagging. The district’s civil works area of responsibility covers approximately 53% of Texas and portions of 10 river basins, many of which are shared with the Galveston District, from the Rio Grande River in the southwest to the Red River in the northeast. Our military program continues to diversify and includes more sustainment, restoration and modernization, and reimbursable projects for our interagency partners. We provide a variety of services to other federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. We also serve as the enterprise program manager for Customs and Border Protection. In addition, we deployed numerous team members to support the recovery operations under the National Response Framework, including, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. The Fort Worth District is an engineering force of highly disciplined people working with our partners through meticulous thought and action to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to the Nation’s engineering problems. *Official LinkedIn"
