About us
The USC Ross Program in Real Estate is an educational platform providing critical skills to Real Estate professionals. It offers graduates the opportunity to participate in leadership roles and establish a pathway for success within the real estate industry. Our mission is to expand the pool of talented professionals from cultural and ethnic diverse backgrounds and broaden options for investment in urban communities. In 2012, the National Association of Realtors reported that 89 percent of commercial real estate professionals were Caucasian and 76 percent were men. In an increasingly multi-ethnic nation where women comprise more than half the population, the real estate industry can – and must – do better. Designed as an inclusive executive education experience, the Ross Program brings individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives together to solve complex real estate challenges. Graduates go on to play roles in numerous commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments throughout Southern California and across the nation. The Ross Program fosters personal growth and insight which positively impacts any company’s bottom line.

Would be curious to see this map of liquor stores overlaid with real estate values. For instance, in what ways are home sale prices changing? Another thought: it could be that the neighborhoods are getting denser and there’s more demand, or perhaps it’s a little more insidious.
More liquor stores are opening across LA, from around 400 in 2010 to almost 700 in 2022. Is this cause for concern? While a few neighborhood liquor stores pop up as a response to market demands, a growing concentration may be more troubling. Studies have shown that increased accessibility to alcohol is associated with higher alcohol consumption and public health risks such as underage drinking, intimate partner and gender-based violence, and overall crime. Elly Schoen digs into the dataset by looking at a chain of neighborhoods in central Los Angeles that seem to be gaining quite a few stores. 📍How many liquor stores are near you?
