Growing up, NIFA-funded researcher Dr. Mariangie Ramos was surrounded by green mountains, waterfalls and coffee farms in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Her upbringing inspired her to choose a career in science. Dr. Ramos is at the University of Puerto Rico-Utuado where she is a part of three NIFA-funded projects. NIFA Director Dr. Manjit Misra served as one of the keynote speakers at this year’s First American Land-grant Consortium (FALCON) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, October 11-13, with NIFA staff. FALCON is a network of Tribal colleges and universities that supports 1994 administrators, directors, faculty, Extension educators and students in fulfilling their Land-grant mission.

Efficient, science-based animal agriculture translates into affordable and high-quality food for the consumer. Research by the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station indicates the specially bred line of chickens could save growers thousands of gallons of water and thousands of pounds of food each month without sacrificing poultry health. ▶️ https://lnkd.in/e5y_pwcq

The USDA announced an investment of more than $46 million in projects aimed to tackle food and nutrition insecurity in underserved communities, as well as support healthy diets by providing access to fruits and vegetables for eligible families.
