This week’s deliveries of Foundational V2X Training were a great success! The #ITSJPO engaged stakeholders in dialogue about advancing vehicle-to-everything (V2X) in Biloxi, MS (#GRITS2024) and New York City (ITS-NY). In partnership with Gulf Region Intelligent Transportation Society, ITS NY, and Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the ITS JPO is working to further the foundational understanding of V2X technologies. The training provides an overview of the V2X ecosystem, discusses example use cases and their benefits, and provides an overview of USDOT V2X technical assistance resources. Entities interested in V2X Training and technical assistance can find more information on the ITS PCB website or the Smart Community Resource Center (SCRC). Despite several decades of progress, traffic-related fatalities and injuries are again, unfortunately, on the rise. Vulnerable road user fatalities are on the rise with pedestrian fatalities up 13% in 2021 compared to 2020. This is why the U.S. Department of Transportation #ITSJPO’s Intersection Safety Challenge is moving to improve safety where approximately half of all traffic injuries occur: intersections. Learn more about how the JPO prioritizes vulnerable road users during National Pedestrian Safety Month and year-round. https://its.dot.gov/isc/
