I help comms teams get better tech & budget | Evolving Internal Communication @ Workshop 🪄 | Employee Engagement | Humor, Memes, & Original Content | B2B SaaS

This is our internal communications manager. We don't even have 100 employees yet. Devin Owens was hired at 60 employees. YES, we're (now 62) employees strong at Workshop! Some might call us crazy for this...but Investing early in IC goes MUCH further than fixing a broken culture later. Companies of ALL sizes need a strong culture. Employees need a reason to show up. And stay. Culture creates growth, both on & off the spreadsheets. Internal comms is the key to unlocking this door. Budget gatekeepers, please remember this before you cut comms.

Workshop has arrived! This week, I'm excited to join my colleagues John Rost, Mayela Hernandez and Yanni Pappas at the Ragan Communications and PR Daily Conference, hosted at Microsoft Headquarters in Seattle (it's absolutely stunning here, by the way!) As Workshop’s first Internal Communications Manager, I’m excited to connect with fellow professionals, share what we’re building, and hopefully make Anna Dornbush proud as I hype all our new product features! If you're attending, be sure to swing by and say hello! Grab a Happy Monday Club coffee mug and let’s chat about how I use Workshop in my role every day. #RaganEvents

Sending communications to team members dispersed across time zones is a big job that people don’t get enough credit for 📣 Whether it’s an all-staff email with important company news, an organization-wide change, a security alert, an employee engagement survey, benefits announcements, system rollouts, or something else, catching people at a time that works for them matters. That’s why I love tools like Workshop that take the guesswork out of time zone conversions, allowing you to save time and not feel like Yeti does👇 Most importantly, allowing you to connect with your team at times that make sense for them, no matter where they are 🌎 #internalcommunications #corporatecommunications #communications #humanresources

When it comes to your company's internal communications, you likely have email, an intranet or hub, and maybe even some instant messaging platforms in place. But what about the tools you might be overlooking? We always say that you’re probably not going to reach 100% of your audience through one channel, but rather, implement a channel mix to meet your employees where they’re at! We hope you can join us on October 29 at 10 AM (CST) as Jamie and Devin explore three often-overlooked channels—SMS, internal podcasts, and QR codes—and see how these tools can help streamline your internal communications! ✨ Reserve your spot here: https://lnkd.in/gZDJV6uZ

VP of Marketing @ Workshop | Internal Marketing & Communications | Branding, Content, and Growth Strategy

I recently hung out with newly published author and consultant Jo McRell to talk about one of our favorite topics: the future of internal communication and its ties to the employee experience. Besides both having Midwest connections and a love of animals, we share a love of pushing our industry forward and providing the next generation with as much knowledge and as many opportunities as we can. ✨ I wanted to pick Jo’s brain about the intersection between her book (“Making Work Work for You” — the truth, tips, and tools you need to navigate today’s workplace) and the insights our communications community can apply to making our work more strategic and future-proof. Take a read through our conversation, and I *HIGHLY* recommend purchasing her book (it's the perfect gift for a graduate or anyone entering the workforce soon!) #internalcommunications #futureofwork

As we roll into Q4, Workshop continues to hire across multiple departments and I could use some help getting the word out. We keep the bar at the door incredibly high, so if you know some top notch folks we should talk to, we'd love to chat. Right now we are hiring for the following: BDRs Account Executives Engineering Manager Frontend Software Engineer ...and more! Know someone who should join this team? Or just someone awesome that we should have on our radar for down the road? DM me or have them apply in the link in the comments.

Making Mondays Happier at Workshop | Communications Manager | Building Engaging, Inclusive and Future Proof Workplaces

Thursday evening marked the close of an exciting Q4 Workshop Week, where more than 50 Workshoppers came together to dive into special projects, get in sync on company-wide goals, and, of course, have plenty of fun. With three jam-packed days (huge shout out to one of the best experience curators I know, Brooke Lehman), saying that "communication is key" was a HUGE understatement. While a lot could be planned ahead, I had to stay flexible to accommodate shifting schedules, deep conversations that ran over, and those spontaneous moments that make events like this so memorable. Nothing new for my fellow internal comms folks! 😅 Naturally, I leaned on email to share daily schedules, menus, presentations, etc. but my favorite tool? SMS. Being able to quickly get messages to a team spread across the Kiewit Luminarium was a game changer. It showed that SMS can be invaluable not just for crisis comms or frontline workers (though it’s great there too!) but for creating seamless real-time connections. Though very tired today, I know I’m not alone when I say I'm energized to finish Q4 strong! 📸 by Phia (https://lnkd.in/gMGz5ZCw)

Making Mondays Happier at Workshop | Communications Manager | Building Engaging, Inclusive and Future Proof Workplaces

Yesterday marked one month at Workshop, and with it, the much-anticipated launch of our internal podcast, Talkshop! I couldn't think of a better time than our Q4 Workshop Week (retreat) to unveil a new channel in our internal comms lineup. Some might say that our company size doesn’t call for another channel, especially a podcast. But considering our values, I believe we’re right on time! Here’s why: 📣 We communicate with intent: Long-form content like Talkshop allows us to explore a range of topics deeply, giving another opportunity for Workshoppers stay informed. 👂 We listen to learn: Talkshop won’t be hosted by just one person or exclusive to leadership. The goal is representation from every part of the company, offering diverse insights and knowledge. 🎉 We create great experiences: This isn’t your typical business podcast. Talkshop is designed to be as fun as it is informative. In fact, our second episode, featuring Rick Knudtson and Derek Homann, dives into why we prioritize traveling retreats. 🏁 We take action: As Jamie Bell recently pointed out, Talkshop’s initial production took less than a month. We made a collective decision and executed—simple as that! And most importantly... ☀ We look on the bright side: Trying something new always involves some risk, but one of my favorite things about the team at Workshop is that we focus on all the ways it could go RIGHT. Based on early feedback, we’re off to a great start!

Change management doesn’t have to be overwhelming, even if you’re not formally trained in it! Start crafting your communications plan by asking questions about the results you’re really after and thinking through potential pitfalls. This will help guide your messaging and keep your team on track through the transition. (P.S. Slide three is a game-changer! 🤯) Head here for more ideas and tips about the comms of change management → https://lnkd.in/g5AEiCV9
