🔥 “SOCOM Ignite is a really good way to get into the innovative side of the military,” said Cadet 4th Class Angel Ko, a freshman with the #AirForce ROTC at Texas Tech University. USSOCOM’s Acquisition, Technology and Logistics directorate and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory kicked off the 2025 SOCOM Ignite Program at MIT’s campus, Sept. 19-22. “We’ve got great people in the SOF organizations, but they’re looking at these problems from the perspective of their experiences and from what they’re seeing on the battlefield,” said U.S. Army Special Operations Command Senior Enlisted Leader Command Sgt. Maj. JoAnn Naumann. #Ignite has 94 cadets from 20 colleges and universities, as well as the Army, Navy and Air Force academies, prepared to continue ongoing projects or begin their own. “You all are looking at it with a totally new perspective," said Naumann. "The brightest, freshest minds in our country, right here in this room, taking on hard problems and giving us a new way to look at them.” Read more on the tech #innovation event: https://lnkd.in/eap5SB96. If your small business is looking for a research institute to work with in submitting a STTR (or SBIR) proposal, the USF Institute of Applied Engineering, Inc. is your partner of choice. We understand the DoD and our internal engineering and project management talent want to perform value added work to small businesses who are innovating with the Department of Defense.
This afternoon, Maria Conneran, Senior Program Analyst for OUSD Transitions SBIR/STTR Technology (OTST) Program within the Defense SBIR/STTR Program Office, participated on the “GET CONNECTED – Contracting with DLA R&D” panel at the fifth annual Defense Logistics Agency's Industry Collider Day in Alexandria, Virginia. Panelists discussed different contracting pathways that industry, particularly small businesses, can leverage to work with DoD on technological innovation. They highlighted benefits of four contracting vehicles/programs: Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) for “Communities of Practice”; BAAs for emerging technologies; Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) awards; and Technology Accelerator Other Transaction Agreements (OTA). Maria promoted the new Defense SBIR/STTR BAA solicitation schedule launching next month. New BAA calls will open the first Wednesday every month to make opportunities available on a more transparent, predictable schedule in an effort to reduce the burden on small businesses seeking to work with DoD. #sbir #sttr #dodinnovates #departmentofdefense #dodsbir #newFY25BAAschedule #smallbusiness #DLAIndustryColliderDay2024
