The Conference of the Pan American Network for Drug Regulatory Harmonization (PANDRH) in Mexico City was a pivotal meeting for medicines regulators in the Western Hemisphere. There was clear recognition by the 48 participating countries of the need for increased international coordination between governments, pharmacopoeias, stakeholders, and national regulatory authorities (NRAs) to support the shared goal of advancing the safety and accessibility of critical medicines and public health. US Pharmacopeia was honored to contribute to the conference discussions and recommendations. A few takeaways: 👉 International collaboration is no longer a choice! Regulatory harmonization, convergence, and reliance efforts among governments and other stakeholders can facilitate and streamline responses and solutions to build medicines supply chain resiliency and reliability. USP's policy position on this topic can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eEV9fXU6 👉 Countries of the Western Hemisphere are ready to engage in global convergence initiatives, such as ICH, IMDRF, and PIC/S, as well as in regional and international regulatory systems strengthening networks, such as the WHO Coalition of Interested Parties (CIP) https://lnkd.in/eW5TRGsf and Americas RISE for Health https://lnkd.in/e_B2nBzw. 👉 Diverse perspectives result in better problem solving and more innovative solutions. That’s why US Pharmacopeia was delighted to invite experts from throughout the Western Hemisphere to apply to serve as Volunteer Experts on the USP Expert Committees and Panels for the 2025-2030 Cycle. Having diverse representation ensures USP standards reflect the environments in which they are used.
