This past weekend we saw a lot of celebrations! We had to divide and conquer to make it to all of the things and we’ll share more. Saturday the VBRC traveled to Monument Valley, UT to sponsor and celebrate Veterans Day with the Oljato Veterans Organization in the Navajo Nation. We celebrated with a Gourd Dance and the Oljato Chapter did a special veterans ceremony for their tribal members in the evening. The veterans were cedared by a shaman, honored with a song and gifts, and everyone in attendance shook each of their hands. Many new friends, many connections, and a lot of support to make this happen. Thank you to the members of the OVO and the Chapter for allowing us to help make lab and execute this event with you! A big thank you to Erick Burgos for pitching in, Leonardo Oliveira for covering the Pacific Island Veterans Day Celebration (another post will be coming for that), and Becky Guertler for making the trip down! Thank you to Alpha Coffee and Carl Churchill for coming and donating coffee for the event. Thank you to the Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs (Beverly Davis-Hawley and Alex Neville) for pitching in and helping veterans, couldn’t have done it without you!!
