The University of Tampa Lowth Entrepreneurship Center

In the last stop on my tour of The University of Tampa's four colleges, I visited the Sykes College of Business. Dean Frank Ghannadian shared how the college enjoys a vibrant connection with the business community. One highlight was a tour of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, which earlier this year was ranked #1 and #2 in the South for its support of the undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship programs offered by the Sykes College of Bysiness and 15th and 16th in the U.S., respectively, by The Princeton Review in partnership with Entrepreneur magazine. There’s some great work coming out this College!

🌏 Happy Earth Week! 🌍 I sit on the Sustainability Committee here at UT, and we were brainstorming how we could make a measurable impact here in Tampa. One of our (many) solutions was creating the Sustainability Pitch Competition! The idea here was to invite students from around the university to develop ideas that 1. impact the University of Tampa, and 2. can be implemented within 12 months. The committee partnered with The University of Tampa Lowth Entrepreneurship Center to make this happen. A big thank you to JOSH R., Bert Seither, and Monica Smith for helping us make this happen! We had several presentations that were all fantastic! Congratulations to everyone who participated: 1st. Kailey Gritzmacher: Setting up permanent Goodwill donation stations on campus 2nd. Alexandria Carson & Alexandra Larson: UT Composting Stations 3rd. Jenna Vaske: Cold water washing presets on UT washing machines Mattia Oliva: Reusable/returnable containers in the UT dining halls Matthew Bartholomeo: Trash collector in Hillsborough river Dianna Johnson: ThriftUT vetted app for students to buy/trade clothing Brooke Pater: Moving to an entirely paperless UT Every idea was executed wonderfully - nice work everyone! I am very grateful to have worked with six incredible judges for this competition. Thank you all for your insights, comments, and coaching moments throughout this competition. These events are nothing without community involvement. My grand vision here is to make this a yearly Earth Week event, sparking new ideas and creating lasting change in the greater Tampa Bay Area!
