UV-C solutions to destroy pathogens and improve sustainability for a safer, healthier and more productive world.

About us

UV Resources helps disinfect airstreams, mitigate disease transmission, and kill microbial contaminants that impede HVAC efficiency. Company founders pioneered the application of UV-C energy in HVAC equipment nearly 25 years ago. Today, we supply market-leading germicidal UV solutions to facility managers and building engineers around the world.

Biofilm is the greatest enemy of an efficient HVACR system. When biofilm gains a foothold in the coils of your air handler, a slew of operational and efficiency issues will lower performance and drive up costs. First, biofilm prevents efficient transfer – creating a barrier between the warm air and the coil. As the coil becomes more fouled, it’s harder for the system to push air through the system. Remember, the higher the pressure drop, the more energy it takes to move air through the air handler. This is why it is important to have a routine PM program designed to keep coils operating at peak efficiency. As the system loses cooling capacity, more energy-intense adjustments are made to compensate for the loss in HVAC performance. For example, operators usually attempt to increase the airflow by re-sheaving fans or boosting fan speed. Variable frequency drives automatically accommodate this increased demand. (most times facility managers don’t even realize VFDs are allocating more energy than needed, until a fouled coil is restored to efficiency). In other words, it takes more energy to overcome a fouled coil, than keeping that coil free from biofilm from the get-go. Unlike mechanical cleanings, UV-C works around the clock to halt the growth of bacteria and mold. Next, the germicidal energy improves cooling capacity by reducing pressure drop (or resistance to pushing air through a fouled coil). Finally, once the biofilm is eliminated, the heat transfer process becomes more efficient and less energy-intensive. https://lnkd.in/g3PSkFue

Instead of routinely pressure washing HVAC coils with harsh chemicals, UV-C energy works around the clock to degrade mold and biofilm, ensuring maximum heat transfer efficiency. For commercial buildings, this can save thousands of dollars a year. All with no VOCs, chemicals or Ozone. Biofilm, by forming an insulating layer between the warm air and evaporator coil, can lead to reduced cooling efficiency, higher operating costs, and more unhealthy air for building occupants. The reduced heat-transfer efficiency results in the HVAC system working harder and consuming more energy to achieve the desired set temperature (and happy occupants). Replacing UV-C lamps in HVAC systems is critical for ensuring heat-transfer efficiency, saving energy and promoting healthy indoor air quality.  We stock hundreds of high-quality direct-fit UV lamps that match any brand or OEM, often for less than $0.03 per CFM. With minimal investment, you can boost AHU performance, improve efficiency, and save HVAC energy.

Hospital-acquired infections associated with antimicrobial resistance remain 13% higher than pre-pandemic levels, according to research from the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Germicidal UVC is a clinically validated technology proven to inactivate infection-causing microorganisms on HVAC surfaces and airstreams. Patients in a hospital with 100-199 beds were 1.25 times as likely to acquire an infection, while those in a hospital with > 500 beds were 2.44 times as likely to be infected. https://lnkd.in/gaW4Sdhy

Thanks to the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) for helping educate facility managers and building owners on the benefits of UV-C technology for air and surface disinfection. UV-C provides cleaner, healthier air and up to 20% HVAC energy savings. Thanks, Troy Cowan and his volunteer IUVA team. https://lnkd.in/gwQnFrZN
