About us
Improve the Health of All in Wisconsin The UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) is a partnership among the University of Wisconsin Health Science Schools, the College of Engineering, and Marshfield Clinic in Northern Wisconsin. Funded by the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award Program (https://ncats.nih.gov/ctsa) and the Wisconsin Partnership Program (https://www.med.wisc.edu/wisconsin-partnership-program/strategic-initiatives/), our mission is to develop a cadre of multidisciplinary biomedical and behavioral scientists capable of accelerating translation of research findings into evidence-based policies and practices to improve health in Wisconsin and nationwide. Our research infrastructure provides investigators with readily available critical resources including numerous career development trainings and degree programs, clinical and health informatics tools, support and assistance with establishing and maintaining community-academic research partnerships and an array of core technologies. We support the translation and dissemination of innovative discoveries to improve health and wellness practices via novel programs that reside on- and off-campus and through our extensive, well-developed clinical network in Wisconsin. We are also home to the All of Us Wisconsin precision medicine program (https://allofus.wisc.edu/).

📚 New publication: "Optimizing external advisory committee meetings of Clinical and Translational Science Awards through focused pre-review" examines ICTR's External Advisory Committee process, which now includes small-group meetings before the full board meeting. Published in JCTS, the article presents findings from an evaluation of this approach and offers insights that the authors (ICTR's Shannon Casey, Ph.D., Beth Burnside, MD, and Allan Brasier, MD) hope will prove useful for other CTSA hubs.
