We have some news to share with you this Friday: United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County Executive Director Lucy Suter Zander, who has more than three decades of dedicated service to local nonprofit organizations, has resigned effective May 3, 2024, to spend more time with her family and manage the family business. We can't say enough but what Lucy has accomplished in her time at the United Way, and about her passion for helping people and the community. Thank you, Lucy Zander. “I am proud of our team’s accomplishments! I am leaving United Way in the hands of a strong board of directors and a capable team,” Zander said of her difficult decision. “I have no doubt that the search committee will identify and recruit an exceptional leader that will continue to move the organization forward by building a stronger, healthier, Carlisle and Cumberland County.” Joining the United Way as Executive Director in 2013 after 18 years at CPARC, Zander has been instrumental in raising over $18 million to benefit nonprofit partners and programs addressing community need areas. The United Way board will form a search committee co-led by President Laurel Williams, who works at Allen Distribution, and Melissa Kelso of Kelso Law, incoming board president. Additional members of the search committee will include current and former board leaders and involved supporters of United Way. Williams, Kelso, and members of the search committee will begin talking with community leaders and constituents to outline qualifications, responsibilities, and expectations of the new director.
