Have you wondered what other funders in the region are doing to work toward solutions for health and racial disparities and children’s mental health? Despite significant progress over the past few decades, many children and youth continue to experience poor mental health outcomes based on their socioeconomic disadvantage, ethnic or racial minority status, or immigrant status. As a result, many of these children have difficulty with successful achievement in school and with interpersonal and peer relationships. Children and youth also have lower levels of mental health service utilization, barriers to accessing care, and experience care that is not culturally competent or evidence-based. Is this a topic you’d like to learn more about? Have you wondered how your organization could be more involved? Join VFN member and call host Courtney Rice, CEO of the Northern Virginia Health Foundation in a funders-only informal conversation to talk about what the Northern Virginia philanthropic community is doing to address health and racial disparities and children’s mental health. The call will be held Monday, November 25 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. To join the call and connect with and learn from your colleagues in Northern Virginia, email Robin at robin@vafunders.org to register.

Housing also has a strong relationship to health outcomes. Have you wondered what other funders in the region are doing to address barriers and work toward solutions in housing affordability? Is this a topic you’d like to learn more about? Have you wondered how your organization could be more involved? Join VFN members and call co-hosts Nicole Acosta, President & CEO of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier, and Ayan Addou, Strategic Housing Officer for Virginia Housing in a funders-only informal conversation to talk about what the Northern Virginia philanthropic community is doing to address housing affordability. The call will be held Thursday, November 21 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. To join the call and connect with and learn from your colleagues in Northern Virginia, email Robin at robin@vafunders.org to register.
