  • Water is an essential life element. We learned there were water issues resulting from the storm before the team deployed to the crisis area. We brought this 500 gallon water tank, pipe and fittings in case an opportunity arose to help. We met a family back in a hollow that has a well that supplies three houses. Problem is they won't have electricity to run the well pump for months and gas for a generator is in very short supply. If you can't run the generator you don't have water. So we made a gravity feed system. They can run the generator until the 500 gallon tank is full, then gravity feeds the water to the houses. It was a bit more complicated than that included a pressure tank also but that is the basic concept. Three families have water more consistently now in storm struck NC. Thank you team, the Vets salute you!! You can support our efforts by attending the Patriots Ball on 9 November at the Stroudsmoor. Details are available on our website events page.

  • Today begins a series of daily posts about our Helene response. Number one topic is gratitude. Number two topic is mission sustainment. Thank you everyone who enabled our efforts in response to Hurricane Helene. You made a difference. Their Mission: Provide relief to strained area of North Carolina with clean water, roof repairs, debris clearing, search and recovery assistance or logistical assistance with needed supplies distribution. They performed all of the tasks but search and recovery to date. They still have more time though so it may still happen. On the ground the situation required and additional mission of providing home heating and cooking supplies so we adjusted and we turned our chainsaws towards making firewood with delivery. Watch for some first hand stories of their accomplishments in the coming days. We are looking for seven to ten people to go down on Wednesday from PH and stay until convoy home on 1 November 2024 to rotate the crew currently there. People with a pick up or vehicle that can pull a trailer home are preferred. After the convoy returns on 1 November our focus will shift. We aren't construction crews. We believe can supply the contacts we made who are with a few hands and some materials without a permanent presence. The phase of operations in NC appears to have shifted from crisis response to community recovery. People need to rebuild their homes, roads and businesses. Future donations should be limited to construction materials. Nails, screws and tar paper all seem in short supply. Four and six seat UTVs are highly prized to access locations. A UTV trailer or two would be a prize. The hills are steep, our UTV 520s are grossly under powered and lack seating space(2 seats). A skid steer, tractor with back hoe or a mini excavator are valuable beyond words. People are our first priority. Pictured are the team who departed from Paul's house on 13 October 2024. Not pictured are the team who took a trailer of supplies a week prior. Thanks Scottie and friends!! Also not pictured are the team who pulled a trailer of supplies out of Ohio. Thank you Transfer and the team in Ohio!! Also not pictured are Eric, Ben, Ty and Mark would left with equipment and supplies from four independent locations in PA to join the team in NC. Additionally, Thank you guys!! Bill, Jake, Luke and Tracie were critical parts of the team in NC, especially in Burnsville, Thank you, NC peeps!!! Throw in the tremendous support of High Pastures Retreat Center in Burnsville and there a big need for gratitude. Thank you Becca and team at High Pastures!! To the donors who enabled our response, thank you. As the stories unfold over the next few days, we hope you find our efforts worthy. Thank you , all, the Vets salute you!!

  • Facts matter and in times of emergency everyone needs to do their part. Two more facts are also important today. One is we are specialists at helping homeless people where they are. Our Stand Down program has provided basic needs efficiently to the homeless in the streets for years. We have always applied those services mobile, from trucks and trailers in multiple states. We are good at it. The next fact that matters is that 100,000 fellow Americans became homeless over night in an epic tragedy that will not resolve soon called Hurricane Helene. Please like and share this post. Valor will rise to the challenges presented by Helene. How well we help will be proportional to how you respond to this post. We are in the process of forming teams to bring our mobile approach of assistance to North Carolina. People have stepped up to improve the reliability of our transportation to support long distance operations and provided initial base camp facilities for our advanced party. The team to staff the initial base camp has been identified and will depart soon. We have provided a 16' enclosed trailer of supplies to a team that leaves today. We anticipate next team with supplies will depart on Saturday evening or Sunday if transportation upgrade is completed by then. Initially, we hope to assemble up to 7 3 person assistance teams and 2 driver crews to run supplies. A 6 person team to work the Paul's House upper parking lot organizing supplies, loading vehicles and trailers. Please volunteer to be part of a team. 6 pm Wednesday at Paul's House will be a briefing for volunteers. In addition to our normal stand down items we are requesting assistance with the following items. 4 or 6 seat side by side UTVs with 4wd. Canoes or small aluminum boats, with safety gear and oars medical bandages, splints wound cleaning supplies--any other medical supplies you think of. Cloth stretchers Shovels, hammers, roofing nails Bottled water and camping meals or MREs for team that goes forward to NC fuel cans Diapers and formula Hand held GPS for the teams to use Couple generators for team use tarps Ordering items online please ship to: Valor 1130 Scenic Drive Kunkletown, PA 18058 Thank you, the Vets salute you!!

  • Please contact VALOR Clinic Foundation if you have any questions about your health concerns. We can help!

Soon after being exposed to a litany of toxins at Karshi-Khanabad Air Base in Uzbekistan, Army veteran Mark Jackson’s health went into decline. At 27, his thyroid effectively died. By 43, his doctor told him he had the bones of an 80-year-old. Jackson’s story is featured in DAV and MOAA's groundbreaking report, Ending the Wait for Toxic-Exposed Veterans. Backed by original research and historical analysis, the report shows that on average, toxic-exposed veterans—many of them suffering life-threatening diseases—have to wait more than 30 years to access the full range of health care and benefits they earned and urgently need. Learn more and become part of the solution at endingthewait.org.
