Founded in 1984, the firm still delivers on the original promise to give clients more bang for their buck by providing strategic marketing solutions in an innovative way that makes every dollar spend like 100. This philosophy has allowed the firm to grow from a strategic consumer packaged goods marketing agency into one of the most creative and successful marketing and advertising agencies in the Southeast. With Alex Van Winkle at the helm, clients are assured that their account will get the attention and expertise needed to move from a "challenger brand" into a "break out" brand for their category.   • Today VWA is 40 years old. That makes us the oldest continuously independent advertising agency in Atlanta. To be fair, Dave Fitzgerald started his firm a few months before ours, and it was sold to McCann. Then he bought it back a few years ago, so we say “continuously independent.” That’s right, we started on April Fool’s Day 1984. The firm started as a consumer-packaged goods firm providing advertising and strategy services for challenger brands looking to grow. Retailers were merging into national chains and big box stores were taking share from grocery and drug stores. This allowed the brands we worked with and the agency to grow into national players. Today, we continue to help brands in many categories develop the strategy and compelling creative to build an emotional connection with the consumer. We have made it this long without focusing on sales for the agency and by focusing on the needs of our clients. We have purposefully stayed smaller to focus on a limited number of clients from the top down. I want to thank all the people who helped us achieve this milestone and all the clients who have trusted us with their business over the years. For the 40th anniversary year, we will be posting about all the stories and accomplishments that have come from 40 years of success. Stay tuned as we continue to make memories.
