Black Organization for Leadership and Dialogue (BOLD) and Women's Initiative in Leadership Success (WILS), two crew groups at Vanguard, hosted an unforgettable fireside chat in honor of Black History Month and Women’s History Month. This event featured Mellody Hobson, Co-CEO and President of Ariel Investments, as well as Massy Williams, CFA, Principal, Head of Wealth Management at Vanguard. As the youngest of six children, Mellody learned early on how to navigate challenges with resilience and determination. Her mother instilled in her the importance of becoming an indispensable employee—an invaluable lesson that shaped her career. During the discussion, Mellody shared powerful insights on visibility, which is WILS' Women's History Month theme. In addition, she offered perspectives on community and leadership, bringing BOLD's theme, "Unity Creates BOLD CommUnity" to life. She also emphasized the importance of being open to feedback, reminding us that growth comes from a willingness to learn.
