The encouraging news is that the representation of women in the C-suite has been steadily rising. In 2015, women made up just 17% of senior executives, but today, that figure has increased to 29%. However, the progress is slower than needed, and there are significant challenges that remain unaddressed. If we continue at the current pace, it would take another 50 years to achieve gender parity in corporate leadership across America. This sluggish rate highlights the persistent barriers that women face in climbing the corporate ladder, from unconscious bias to structural inequalities in promotion and hiring practices. Moreover, there has been a concerning decline in the number of companies that prioritize gender diversity. Since 2017, the percentage of organizations claiming gender diversity as a top priority has dropped by 10%. Even more troubling is the fact that only about half of employees believe their companies genuinely value gender diversity. This figure has remained stagnant over the past several years, revealing a disconnect between corporate messaging and employee perception. This stagnation suggests that while many companies outwardly express a commitment to diversity, the actual implementation of policies and cultural change is lagging. Without a renewed and genuine effort, closing the gender gap in corporate leadership will remain a distant goal, and the potential benefits of diverse leadership teams will continue to be unrealized. #worldmentalhealthday reminds us that mental health struggles come in many forms, and just because someone seems to be "high functioning" doesn't mean they aren’t struggling. It’s easy to assume that people who perform well at work, maintain social relationships, and generally keep things together must be fine. However, many high-functioning individuals mask their pain, making it harder for others—and sometimes themselves—to recognize when they need help. With everything going on in the world, we all must be cognizant of the fact that more people are struggling - and struggling in a variety of ways. And the more we know, the better we can help each other. Learn more in our article below: #mentalhealth
