    Don’t be that coworker.  While everyone is different and we believe that everyone should be allowed to be their authentic selves at work, some actions you may engage in can be harmful to others around you and fracture the culture of the team. Here are five ways you can inadvertently harm your team dynamics as a coworker: Lack of Communication: Poor communication leads to misunderstandings, delays, and decreased productivity. According to research conducted by Gartner, poor communication is responsible for 70% of corporate errors. Clear and timely communication is essential for effective teamwork. Negative Attitude: A negative attitude can impact team morale and collaboration. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that negativity in the workplace costs businesses $3 billion a year due to its harmful effects. It undermines motivation and can create tension, hindering the team's ability to achieve goals. Failure to Collaborate: Refusing to collaborate or being unwilling to compromise limits the team's ability to leverage diverse skills and perspectives. 26% of leaders believe that poor cross-team collaboration is the biggest challenge in project management, making it one of the biggest hurdles that managers have to overcome to continue to reach goals. Lack of Empathy: Lacking in empathy can have effects on people around you for years to come. Your teammates can feel isolated and undervalued. Their mental and emotional well-being can suffer, which can lead to increased stress and decreased job satisfaction. If you are someone who is constantly forcing the people around you to act as you do, you are limiting people from being who they are. Ignoring Feedback: Disregarding constructive feedback prevents personal growth and improvement. It also reflects a lack of respect for team input, hindering the team's ability to learn and adapt as the times and expectations are constantly changing.
