More than forty years later, ‘Poltergeist' is still haunting us. JoBeth Williams and Craig T. Nelson, who starred as the besieged parents, had no idea the film would endure this long. “You had these enormous sets and this story that may or may not make sense—depending on how they did it,” he tells VF. For VF, Williams and Nelson revisit the controversies, the tragedies, and recall the strange, true stories from the suburban horror blockbuster: https://lnkd.in/eMZgKQeA

Saoirse Ronan has accomplished a great deal in her two decades of being a performer, but she’s still got her eye on some big goals. She hopes to direct soon, and she also wants to take on a villain role—specifically as a Bond villain. “What I do like about something like Bond in general, is that the characters are very interesting,” she tells VF. “I do think there’s something kind of cool about having a female villain who wants to take him down and doesn’t just want to fall in love with him.” In an interview with VF, Ronan recalls her first-ever Oscar ceremony at age 13, why she wants to work with Greta Gerwig “till the day I die,” and teases her directorial debut. Karen Read’s first murder trial has divided onlookers and captivated the internet. As her second trial looms, she’s ready to talk about what she says happened. On the morning of January 29, 2022, Read’s boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, was found in a snowbank outside the home of fellow police officer Brian Albert. According to prosecutors, following an evening of drinking and then a fight, Read backed into O’Keefe with her Lexus SUV and left the scene. According to Read and her defense, she is not only innocent, but furthermore, she is being framed. This summer, after Read’s murder trial ended with a hung jury, Read invited VF’s Julie Miller to her home for three days of an interview with no holds barred. “There’s nothing we’re afraid of. Any question you have, I have answers for,” Read told Miller. “If I can get the entire truth of this case out in the public forum, that, to me, is priceless.” In the interview, Read discusses her relationship with O’Keefe, the day that he died, and the moment she realized she was a suspect. “Other than feeling wrongfully persecuted and prosecuted, I feel incredibly violated,” Read says. “As scary as a potential conviction is, I will go to jail for something I didn’t do before I plea out. I will never give them that win.” Read the story, part one of a two-part feature: https://lnkd.in/de3DbCFD Photographed by Diana Markosian.
