Strategy and data leader with a passion for developing and implementing innovative change
Full circle moment: Selena Pacheco was part of the FIRST fall 2021 Multilingual Ambassador Program (MAP), and yesterday she brought 28 of her multilingual students from Freeman High School where she started as an EL teacher this year! Cindy Buezo-Sanchez, also a founding team member, is graduating in May to pursue her passion for international access to educational opportunities for multilingual students. The MAP program has grown to six (6) middle and high schools across five (5) Virginia school divisions, including urban, suburban and rural schools. Our team includes 12 ML VCU students majoring in everything from social work, nursing, clinical radiation sciences to accounting. Collectively they are in K-12 schools over 50 hours a week. I am honored to be part of Selena and Cindy's journeys. The importance of paid, community engaged, student led opportunities that connect academics and work experience are critical to co-create with our VCU and surrounding communities.
