About us
VegTech™ Invest is an investment management company that advises a Plant-based Innovation ETF. It also produces a Plant-based Innovation & Alternative Proteins index as an industry benchmark. VegTech Invest invests in public companies that are actively innovating with plants and plant-derived ingredients and that produce primary products that are animal-free. We believe these companies positively impact climate change, planetary health and sustainability, human health, and animal health. We also believe that we are on the cusp of a long-term secular trend that will result in the disrupting of the global food and materials supply chain for a more efficient, climate friendly and sustainable. Government law interjects into commerce and restricts consumers and investors from seeing any pictures or videos within animal factories. It is called an Ag Gag Law, and it is enacted in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, and North Dakota. Will AI push for more transparent supply chains as informed consumers hold corporations and governments accountable for messing with their food, lagging on R&D for better options and generally denying them information for their own health? Of course, we all need to eat, but we are decades behind on better options that use less land, less water, create less methane, create less pandemic risk, use less antibiotics, destroy less biodiversity and forest, and cause less harm while…creating more nutritious options. WHY? Why are we lagging in innovation? Because a handful of companies are protected so that they can continue the status quo…while our natural resources dwindle, our health fails, animals suffer needlessly and the planet teeters. Unbelievable how some companies are protected by big government to be able to get away with…well, murder. #quoteoftheday #badbusiness #animalagriculture Rick Alexander Kelly McNamara Maria Lettini

Are we prepared for a world where beef is a luxury item? 🌎🍔 McDonald’s iconic Big Mac is at the center of a growing challenge: rising beef prices. 💰 According to a new Bloomberg article, the average cost of a burger is up 16% from just five years ago, with droughts and climate change hitting cattle herds hard. 🐄 The U.S. cattle herd is currently at a 73-year low, leading to higher beef prices, and experts predict it could take years to rebuild supply. These changes may make us rethink our food choices. As beef becomes more expensive, is it time to explore plant-forward alternatives? 🥩 While climate change affects meat production, meat production also causes climate change. Producing beef is a very inefficient process that uses lots of resources and releases methane into the air. 💨 According to the UN Environment Programme, livestock emissions account for roughly 32% of human-caused methane emissions. A shift away from animal agriculture and a move towards plant-based foods could become both an economic and sustainable solution. The days of the dollar menu might be fading, but new opportunities for more sustainable eating habits are rising. 🍔➡️🥗 Read the full article linked in the comments. #Sustainability #PlantBased #ClimateChange #BeefPrices

🤔 What influences your food choices more than you realize? In her powerful TED Talk, the CEO of Tilt Collective, Sarah Lake, uncovers the hidden forces shaping what we eat and how we make decisions at the grocery store. 🍽️ From food marketing strategies to product placement and packaging, Sarah explains how our choices are often guided by unseen factors designed to steer us towards certain products. 🥩 She mentions how in the 1950s the U.S. government was using advertising to push the consumption of meat, and now they have the power to help the environment and consumers’ health by pushing for reducing meat consumption and increasing plant consumption. Her insights reveal the deep connection between food, the global marketplace, and climate change. 🌱 She paints a picture of a world where people are living healthier lives due to plant-rich diets, decreasing their consumption of meat, and therefore tackling climate change. Watch this eye-opening talk at the link in the comments. #climatechange #foodsystemstransformation #plantbased

In the last 3 months we have received several RFPs for how investing in VegTech companies can reduce the biodiversity loss from investor portfolios. We have been talking about how we need to invest for a more resilient, nutritious and less damaging food system for years and it is ringing true with investors: 🌎 For Climate impact 🌲 For deforestation and biodiversity mitigation 🔒 For food security 🌱 For more nutritious food ♻️ For more regenerative and sustainable practices ⏰ And to invest early in a global systems change. With 2030 looming large and as we are dangerously far from our 2030 emissions targets, we do believe that 2025 will be a critical year in food systems innovation and investing.
