Over the past three decades, Lynn has developed and shaped Venice Arts' pioneering art mentoring model, media arts education, college pathways, and creative career development programs, leaving an indelible mark on both the organization and the greater community. This year’s Gala also marks the beginning of a new chapter for Venice Arts, as Jaime Zavala, a nonprofit leader with deep roots in youth development and social justice, steps into the role of Executive Director. With his expertise and passion, Venice Arts is poised for an exciting future, continuing its mission to inspire, empower, and uplift the next generation of creative leaders. Join us on September 26, 2024 at the Venice Arts Gallery for the closing reception of DOGTOWN: The Pups of Venice Beach and Their Humans, photographer Dotan Saguy's latest body of work. The show features 57 quirky, heartfelt, candid photographs of our four-legged Venetian friends shot in black and white on Saguy’s Leica. Saguy’s last exhibit at Venice Arts Gallery was in 2018 and was titled "Venice Beach, The Last Days of a Bohemian Paradise". About returning to the Venice Arts Gallery to show his work, Saguy says, “The projects I shoot in Venice, such as DOGTOWN, are a labor of love that is first and foremost meant to be shared with the local community, and I can’t think of a better place to do just that than at Venice Arts.” This intimate closing reception will offer a unique opportunity to meet the talented Dotan Saguy and hear him talk about his stunning canine black-and-white portraits. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of an unforgettable exhibition that has captured the endearing bond between Venetians and their pups.
