Yesterday we held our August PCHRA Member meeting with Tommie Jo Brode, founder of Venice Solutions Group. We had a robust and interactive discussion on techniques for improving culture and retaining employees in this tough labor market. Tommie stressed that workplace culture is more important than ever in retaining employees. Lack of appreciation, toxic environment, and feeling disrespected are some of the top reasons employees cite as the reason they left. And according to Forbes, “Over 9 out of 10 executives say that the culture and connection is lacking for their remote team members” which places more stress on work groups. She emphasized communication is key in setting expectations, stifling conflict and helping employees feel involved and appreciated. Also, how non-verbal communication is the bigger distractor to peace and harmony in the office. Thank you, Tommie, for the fun and energic presentation. We also want to thank the Superior Search Group for sponsoring the event and to Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Tiffany Jones, and Ryan Knowles for supporting the event by offering the facility and AV expertise!
