Tropical Update from VIP Software The two areas we were monitoring have rapidly intensified over the past 48 hours. •Tropical Storm Nadine is now post-tropical and heading into the Pacific. •Hurricane Oscar has escalated with sustained winds at 80 mph and is expected to stall, then push NNE into the Atlantic. This quick transition is a reminder of the volatility of storm season and the importance of real-time data. At VIP Software, we’re committed to helping our partners stay informed and prepared as these patterns develop.

Tropical Update: Potential Development in the Atlantic A broad area of low pressure over the central tropical Atlantic is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to improve, potentially allowing for gradual development of this system later this week. There's a possibility that a tropical depression could form as it approaches the Leeward and Virgin Islands by week's end. As the system moves westward into the warm waters of the Caribbean, uncertainties remain regarding its exact path, with models suggesting a range of outcomes from movement north to a more southerly direction. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor this system closely.

11 AM Update on Hurricane Milton:
Milton continues to weaken while increasing its forward speed, with landfall now expected earlier than originally projected. Wind shear is contributing to the storm's gradual weakening, but it's also expanding the storm's wind field. Currently, hurricane-force winds extend 35 miles out from the center. No adjustments have been made to the projected track at this time. Stay tuned for further updates as conditions evolve.

Staying connected in emergencies is crucial. Make sure your iOS is updated so that, even if cellular towers go down, you can still access satellite services for emergency calls and texting. This is a great feature for people across Florida during the storm. To enable this feature: Open the Settings app. Tap on Messages. Scroll down to the section labeled 'Messages via Satellite' and select 'Satellite Connection Demo' to ensure you’re prepared. Hopefully, we won’t need it, but it's always best to be ready. 🙏

Major Hurricane #Milton has strengthened to a Category 3 storm with winds of 125 mph and is expected to hit Florida’s west coast by Wednesday. Storm surge and hurricane watches are in effect for many areas, with a state of emergency declared in 51 counties. The Tampa Bay area could face storm surges up to 15 feet, potentially worse than the 1921 hurricane. Forecast models predict Milton may intensify before landfall, possibly nearing Category 5 strength. Historical context: Hurricane Ian in 2022 caused $64 billion in damages, and Irma in 2017 cost $31 billion. Stay prepared.

We now have Invest 92 in the Gulf with an 80% chance of development. Some models show the system strengthening significantly, while others are less certain. However, there is a strong possibility of a Tropical Named system forming soon. The warm waters of the Gulf could contribute to this system’s intensification, and a hurricane cannot be ruled out. 📍 Current projections indicate that the system may approach the west coast of Florida early next week. As always, there are uncertainties in the forecast, but we should prepare for potential impacts in the next 3-4 days.
