The culmination (or really evolution) of several years of experience and thinking about the role of learning sustainment as a performance enhancement approach combined with trusted strategy tools like value trees, has the potential to give L&D organizations more oversight of the "learning to perform lifecycle" that has been sorely missing in many organizations. Robert Feeney and I are eager to expose this combination of learning design and sustainment tooling to the ATD crowd at #NEAC_2024!
🌟 Transform Learning with a Performance-First Approach! 🌟 Join us at the NEAC 2024 Conference this October for an innovative session presented by Ken Stockman and Robert Feeney, seasoned experts in talent development and behavioral change. 🔗 Session: Performance-first: A Story 🚀 About the Session: Discover a new era of learning design focused on performance that aligns directly with work flow and business outcomes. This session will explore a Performance-first model through engaging storytelling, demonstrating how to design upskilling and reskilling that is just-in-time rather than just-in-case. Learn how to integrate attitudes, skills, and knowledge into learning processes that enhance business performance and employee engagement. 💡 Why Attend? Gain insights into effective habit formation and measurable learning returns that drive business results. Understand how a Performance-first approach can revolutionize the way your organization empowers talent, making learning an integral, efficient part of the daily workflow. 📅 Empower your team by adopting learning strategies that reflect modern consumption models used in advertising and social media. This session will help you reevaluate and potentially overhaul your learning delivery to make it more impactful for both employees and the organization. 📍 Speakers: Ken Stockman: Former Global Learning Strategist at IBM Consulting Robert Feeney: Chief Vision Officer at Knowledge as a Service, Inc., Creator of ASK methodology and Ringorang technology #NEAC2024 #LearningAndDevelopment #PerformanceFirst #TalentDevelopment #BehavioralChange ATD Central Massachusetts, ATD Rhode Island, ATD Greater Boston, ATD Maine Chapter, Vermont Chapter Association for Talent Development (Vermont ATD), ATD Southern Connecticut Chapter, Association for Talent Development (ATD), Ken Stockman , Robert Feeney

Summer is a great time to catch up on reading in both professional and personal areas of interest. For me, my professional read this summer is "𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐶ℎ𝑒𝑐𝑘𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑓𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑜" by Atul Gawande, an author I really enjoy reading for his fact-based and emotive storytelling. My personal selection for this summer is Stephen King's new anthology of short stories "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝐿𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑖𝑡 𝐷𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑟". I haven't read Stephen King in over a decade, so it's great to get back to this master of the macabre. One of the really fun new experiences we've started at Vermont ATD is the book club (https://lnkd.in/dPZr75Sb). We've had a few sessions where members have read and discussed a book of interest as a way of engaging with each other around our professional interests and using that interaction for a springboard to deepen member relationships and the value of a Vermont ATD membership. What are you reading this summer? 𝙻̲𝚎̲𝚝̲ ̲𝚞̲𝚜̲ ̲𝚔̲𝚗̲𝚘̲𝚠̲ and maybe we can bring it to the book club? We hope you are enjoying the marvel that is summers in Vermont! And we look forward to re-engaging with everyone in the fall when our event calendar starts back up!

Looking forward to representing Vermont ATD at this years NEAC in October. I'm hoping some of you will join me there and expand our conversations in Talent Development! #NEAC2024
One of the exciting aspects of my pending “rewirement” is the additional freedom and time to grow my eminence in the field of talent development. It's hard to accomplish this while working. Whether it’s the 1,000 things that need attention any given week, a lack of energy to engage after a 50-60+ hour work week, or jumping through organizational approval hoops, contributing thought leadership in the public domain while working is particularly challenging. But building eminence is an intentional act of self-promotion and intellectual exploration for professionals that requires time, commitment, energy, and autonomy. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some colleagues at IBM who share this ideal and have begun to make names for themselves outside of work in this space or related fields. Fueled by their passions, curiosity, or points of view, many of them have been able to insert themselves into arenas that demonstrate the depth of their knowledge and expertise in skill development, consultative competencies, business acumen, and talent development. I applaud each of them and look forward to echoing their involvement in expanding the thinking and innovation in our field. A quick call out here to Kelly McCrory-Lynch, Keith Burgess, Wagner Denuzzo, LCSW (He/Him/His), Alphonsa Mathai, Sandeep Magavi, Rahul Bose, and Paul Maltby MCMI ChMC (He/Him/His) as some prime examples. For me, growing my eminence is about sharing perspectives and ideas that get people thinking, collaborating, and innovating. I want to be part of the growth of the field of talent development because I see challenges coming that will impact organizational talent and I want to help find ways to build resilience, integrity, and capacity in this field. Whether it’s the growing impact of AI, the generational influences of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, or the significant and lasting shift in work habits brought on by the pandemic, being part of the evolution of talent development is to corporate survival as the evolution of childhood education is to civic survival. I’ve been fortunate to have had opportunities over the last year or two with #TrainingIndustry, #ISPI, and #VermontATD to build some eminence in this space. Now, as I enter my third act, I’m priming to deliver my first conference topic in over 30 years. I will be co-presenting with my friend and colleague Robert Feeney at the ATD New England Area Conference #NEAC2024 in the fall and am looking forward to building off of that into 2025 and beyond. Growing eminence in any field is challenging. However, the few professionals that take the time to invest in expanding the conversations in their fields are what prime growth, deepen common understanding, develop new methodologies, and define new best practices. For years, I taught this same goal in my current organization as part of our core skills education. It’s time I live up to the challenge I’ve given so many others over the years.
