Cheers to you, Dail Frates (first photo: sitting in the front row, middle, with the flowered jersey)! We will miss seeing you out on programs with Zack's Place but suspect (and hope!) we might enjoy a celebrity appearance now and then?! Dail has been the executive director of Zack's Place, in Woodstock, and a driving force behind Vermont Adaptive's partnership and friendship with the organization. Our last day of the season for paddling with Zack's was last week, but we're back to bikes on the Lebanon Rail Trail for the fall. Enjoy an oldie blog post about our programs with Zack's Place - it's a good one https://bit.ly/3ZdkLOa

When we mountain bike, we always provide a spotter on certain points of a trail, but clearly Kelly, founder of the Kelly Brush Foundation, nailed the turn easily. Another trail assessment in the books with Vermont Mountain Bike Association, this time at ASCUTNEY TRAILS ASSOCIATION, INC. The best part? Most of the trails the crew rode yesterday flow well and don't need too much improvement! We'll be at VMBA Day at Killington Resort this Sunday. See you there?! . . . #aMTB #mountainbike #joyis #thisisvt #ascutneytrails #vmba #kbf #vtadaptive #sportsforeverybody #paralympics

Working with the folks at Vermont’s only National Park - Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park - yesterday, the Vermont Adaptive team hiked to The Pogue in Woodstock as part of a partner collaboration with the Park through a National Parks Foundation Grant. The goals of yesterday’s assessments were to review the trails in order to increase accessibility and access for all abilities. Making a National Park accessible is huge and we’re excited to be a part of it. But that’s not all - mountain bike trail assessments continued yesterday, too! From hiking shoes to bikes, the team headed out on trails in Killington with the Killington Mountain Bike Club, Vermont Mountain Bike Association and the Kelly Brush Foundation for assessments on the Sherburne Trails and Gifford Woods Trails. As of this Spring, this collaboration of partners has assessed and improved nearly 90 miles of trails state-wide and can we share that they are adaptive accessible. For more information about accessible mountain biking in Vermont be sure to visit the Vermont Mountain Bike Association website for a full map and details. . . . #vmba #kbf #aMTB #accessibility #hiking #nationalpark #trailwork #partners #vtadaptive #adaptivesports #sportsforeverybody

Veteran Ventures headed to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail last week for a beautiful bike ride. One of our favorite spots for sure. Where do you like to ride in Vermont? Shout out to the Cupboard Deli in Jeffersonville, too, for all of their support for Vermont Adaptive's veterans programs. Are you a veteran or know someone who is? Come join us - all programs are free of charge. Contact SGG (Ret.) Misha-Pemble Belkin (the guy with the beard) at veterans@vermontadaptive.org to learn more and sign up.

Calling All Volunteers! Our Burlington location still urgently needs volunteers for biking, paddling, sailing, and climbing programs. Email Betsy today at truenorth@vermontadaptive.org and let her know when you can help. She'll email you the days and times of programs. Interns head back to school soon and we have loads of folks coming to programs in August, September and October. One of our favorite groups from CVU will be back on Fridays in September, too! Committing to just ONE day makes a HUGE difference! Volunteers are the heart and soul of Vermont Adaptive. Without you, we can’t bring the joy and empowerment of outdoor adventure to those who benefit from it the most. Your time and dedication help us create unforgettable experiences and foster a more inclusive, connected community. Thank you!
