Congratulations to the entire project team and the City of Watertown for reaching this important milestone!
As we approach 50% complete with the new Watertown High School, it was time to bring members of the City Council, School Building Committee, School Committee, and City Manager on a tour to see the construction progress. This dedicated group endured feasibility study and design through COVID, unprecedented construction cost escalation, programmed, designed, built, and occupied a 76,000sf temporary modular high school in 18 months - all with the determination to bring this LEED Platinum, Net Zero Energy, state-of-the-art new high school to their community. The Project Team includes OPM The Vertex Companies LLC, Architect Ai3 Architects, LLC , and GC Brait Construction Managers. Big thank you to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) and the citizens of Watertown.

Key insights include: 𝟭. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: End users may not be part of the formal contract, but their feedback can lead to unforeseen challenges for sureties. Understanding this relationship is vital for effective project management. 𝟮. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Common end-user issues—such as unrealistic expectations and project delays—can escalate quickly, affecting timelines and costs. Knowing these potential pitfalls allows sureties to implement proactive strategies. 𝟯. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀: From establishing clear communication channels to meticulous documentation practices, learn how to manage end-user expectations and minimize disruptions during takeovers.
