This may be the most beautiful story I have ever read. Sharon Maxwell, your vulnerability is power. Your work is inspiring. And your emotional journey is shared by so. Many. People. You are my why. No, we didn't know each other when J. Brandon Johnson and I started VERY | Virtual Eating Recovery in 2022. But as I have transitioned from higher level of care to outpatient care, THIS is the work. This is why VERY provides expert, values-based care and community for eating recovery. Our expertise affords us courage to be flexible in the gray. We connect with each of our patients to better create a recovery plan that fits in the context of their lives today, working still for tomorrow. We nurture the individual values of our patients, reconnecting them with purpose and their most authentic selves. We envision a world where eVERYone can transform their relationship with food, body, and self. Because anti-fatness is real and a part of all of us, in every industry, social group, family system. VERY turns 2 today! So far, we’ve: 1. reduced relapse rates for 145 eating disorder patients from a 40% national average to below 4%; 2. grown our team of dedicated eating disorder experts from 2 providers to 12 (and continuing); and, 3. developed a leadership team (and quality partnerships) that is ready to expand our in-network services from Colorado (5.8m people) to multiple states (over 50m people) this quarter. We’ve got miles to go to complete our mission of saving lives and helping millions into sustainable recovery, but on days like today it’s nice to look back and see how far we’ve come. If you’d like to help or meet our team, we are keen to share our mission and will need hundreds of folks working together to achieve this mission. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
