It was an absolute pleasure to help Cayuga County, NY engage niche audiences looking for culturally meaningful travel experiences. In partnership with The Culturist Group, we launched a multichannel paid campaign to share Tour Cayuga’s newly developed brand and attract travelers most likely to resonate with the value that “where you go matters”. How are Europe's top IPAs advertising online? Reading the latest fDi Intelligence "European Cities & Regions of the Future 2024" rankings, this was the question that kept popping into my mind. So I did what any data-loving place marketing nerd would do -- I found and analysed LinkedIn & Google ads from all 50 'Overall Winner' cities, as well as the 17 corresponding country-level IPAs. And the results were fascinating. It was so inspiring to see the innovative, targeted campaigns being run and often surprising to see which organisations were running limited programs or didn't appear to be investing in advertising at all. All of the ad creatives are easily accessible through platform ad libraries, but out of respect for the teams creating the ads, I didn't include any specific examples in my shared analysis, only cumulative data. There is a lot of great work being done in #FDI advertising and also so much opportunity for many IPAs to continue growing and experimenting in this space.
