We celebrated 16 years of 100% employee ownership last week at VGM’s annual Summer Grillout. It was a time for employee owners to gather and enjoy the beautiful weather, have a burger or two, play some games, and commemorate our employee ownership. Safe + Sound Week, organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), is a week-long campaign dedicated to promoting workplace safety. August is recognized as Wellness Month, and at VGM Group we offer many wellness benefits to our employee owners, including health plans and our 24/7 fitness center open to all employee owners. This year, we brought back our popular Passport to Wellness—a year-long challenge for employee owners to complete a variety of activities that improve their physical, financial, emotional, and holistic wellness. From running a 5K to attending a financial wellness webinar, or volunteering at an animal shelter to creating their own challenge, employee owners have a chance to win prizes while improving their wellness!    And as of March of this year, VGM’s wellness coordinator, Cara Hintz, began the Power of One Wellness Series—a monthly series that includes wellness webinars as well as in-person physical activities, such as the Yoga on the Lawn event…which was so popular in July, Cara is hosting a second Yoga on the Lawn event in August for Wellness Month! 

Talk about a home run of excitement! For the past two evenings, over 400 employee owners across four VGM locations enjoyed a Night at the Ballpark cheering on their favorite minor league baseball teams, with Two Rivers Marketing in Des Moines scheduled to enjoy an iCubs game in September. It was a perfect summer evening to unwind and bond with fellow coworkers (and maybe catch a few foul balls)!

It’s International Day of Friendship, and at VGM, you don’t have to look far to find employee owners that have met some of their best friends here. By Cheering Each Other On, sending the Traveling Trophy, or attending one of the many events VGM holds each month with teammates, there’s no shortage of camaraderie to be found around every corner.
