Last night at the Victory Code bootcamp, we had the honor of hosting Robert Garcia, who shared his incredible journey of learning to code while serving a 20+ year sentence. 💻 Through the support of programs like The Last Mile and Next Chapter , Robert found his way to Edovo and continues to make strides in the tech space. His story is one I deeply relate to, a reminder that those who have walked the hardest paths often have the most to offer. 🏆💻 Victory Code Bootcamp Update 💻 🏆 Today marks the end of the first quarter of the Victory Code Bootcamp and it brings great achievements. Our participants have went from writing "Hello world" to deploying their first website on Netlify and creating their accounts on LinkedIn and GitHub A huge shout-out to Unloop, whose support has been instrumental in making this program a success. I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Onkur Lal, our TA and Software Engineer (Victory Code and Next Chapter alumni), who helps the bootcamp run smoothly. Would also like to thank all of the mentors who volunteer to make this possible especially Yukio Rideb, Christopher Blystone, and David Moore. As formerly incarcerated alumni from Coding Dojo and General Assembly they have brought invaluable insights and encouragement, proving that it is possible to break into tech. It is so awesome to be a part of this. Tonight, our participants will showcase their projects via Zoom, marking not just a culmination of their hard work, but also the beginning of a promising road ahead.
