October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is essential to continue to raise awareness for Breast Cancer as 1 in every 8 women in the United States will develop Breast Cancer at some point in their life. Some risk factors for Breast Cancer are unchangeable such as age, family history, genetic mutations, and reproductive history. Things that you can do to mitigate some risk of developing Breast Cancer include being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting alcohol intake. It is important to discuss family history as well as other risks with your doctor to decide on the appropriate screenings for you including mammograms and genetic testing. #VieCure #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Today is National Previvor Day. Join us in raising awareness for those who take action to reduce and or eliminate genetic cancers before they develop. With increased testing such as the tests for the BRACA genes, more people are cancer previvors. The decisions previvors make are incredibly courageous and we honor them today and every day. #VieCure #PrevivorDay

This week is National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Week. This week signifies the shift from Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This week, we recognize the individuals affected by hereditary breast, ovarian, or related cancers. This includes both women and men who have BRCA mutations, a family history of breast and or ovarian cancers, as well as those who are predisposed to these types of cancers. This serves as an important reminder to discuss family history and genetic predispositions with your doctor and to maintain regular checkups and relevant cancer screenings. #VieCure #HereditaryBreastCancer #HereditaryOvarianCancer

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Ovarian cancer is caused by unhealthy cells that quickly grow and damage healthy cells in the ovaries. Early stages of Ovarian Cancer often do not have symptoms and/or are assumed to be a different issue. It is important to have regular checkups and discuss if you are at increased risk for Ovarian Cancer. Some factors that increase the risk of developing Ovarian Cancer include inherited genetic mutations, family history, age, and obesity. Being aware of risk factors and maintaining checkups based on risk is the best chance of catching Ovarian Cancer in the early stages and ultimately having the best outcomes. #VieCure #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth
