As temperatures rise, it's crucial to remember the dangers of leaving pets, children, and elderly individuals in a parked car. On a 95°F day, like today, the temperature inside of a car can reach 114°F in 10 minutes. In an hour, the temperature can reach 140°F or more, which can be deadly for pets, children, and elderly individuals. That's why it's critical to NEVER leave anyone in a parked car, even for a short time. In 2023, 29 children died due to vehicular heatstroke. (National Safety Council). Take them with you, or make other arrangements to ensure their safety. ❤️

The Arlington Heights Police Department invites residents and community members to attend the upcoming fall session of their Citizens Police Academy! You can gain hands-on experience with forensics, see new technology up close, get tours of vehicles and the Police Station, and of course... meet the Arlington Heights K9 unit! This program is free and is a great way to learn more about what it's like to be a police officer in Arlington Heights. The program is open to 25 students and fills up fast! The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Planner. The Assistant Planner will join a fast-paced department of planners and will have the opportunity to work on exciting and interesting development projects to ensure the health, safety, and economic well-being of residents of the Village of Arlington Heights. Qualified candidates will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field, and at least one year of related experience. Additionally, experience with GIS software, AutoCAD, and graphic design is required. The salary range for this position is $67,238-$90,769, depending on qualifications and experience.
