While we already offer fully mobile options to our clients, many still deploy kiosks in their lobbies. The fastest way to a hotel room In a 100% mobile world, guests check-in (verify identity, pay, and sign T&Cs) via mobile web and then receive their mobile key directly in their Apple or Google Wallet. No app to download. No kiosk to stop at. Why do we need kiosks now? We're living in a transitional period where kiosks are required in most situations to ensure a great guest experience for all guests. Let's face it, mobile key technology hasn't been the most reliable over the years. Many guests remember poor mobile key experiences years ago, when the technology was not yet mature enough for prime time. Those guests still want a physical key card right now. Why remove the kiosk? Even the best-designed hardware gets old and needs to be replaced or repaired. That results in additional cost that a 100% mobile solution avoids. The extended stay hotel sector is booming, and demand continues to outpace supply. Choice Hotels International just opened its 500th extended stay property and had around 400 extended stay properties in its pipeline in Q2. With four different brands covering economy and midscale segments in addition to varying designs and amenities across those brands, Choice is covering a broad swath of the market. A larger room, early check-in, a spa treatment. They all serve to make a guest's experience more enjoyable while helping the bottom line. They can see pre-purchased packages and add additional ones. For those guests that are early, they can pay for early check-in and can also add late check-out.
