  • In celebration of #HispanicHeritageMonth, we recognize leaders like Bernadette. "When I started my healthcare career 20 years ago, I never imagined I’d be serving in a leadership role, giving back to the communities where my ancestors once lived." Bernadette’s dedication and passion for service inspire us all. Her leadership is a true reflection of the strength and contributions of the Hispanic community. • This APP Week, we celebrate our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and thank them for their incredible contributions to the health and wellbeing of our patients. Join us as we spotlight APPs across VMFH all week, giving a peek behind the curtain into their impactful work. #NationalAPPWeek Meet Marty Couret, ARNP, shares his approach to patient education: "I have a simple anatomy book in each room. I pull it out frequently to show patients how everything is connected. I also like to translate complex ideas into simple terms. It is easy to explain kidneys as coffee filters or arterial calcification like old engine hoses."

Each day as a nurse anesthetist is unique due to the diverse range of procedures we manage. Although our role often operates behind the scenes, it’s a pivotal one, ensuring that patients are well-cared for throughout their procedures."

When I approach a patient I try to imagine what it might sound like if I were them. I try to relate to the patient and keep an open dialog in order to allow patients and family members to openly ask questions without fear of judgement."

  • We recently partnered with the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park for a powerful Prostate Cancer Awareness Month event! ⚾️ Our team, alongside Mariners staff and fans, stepped up to the plate for their health by offering free prostate cancer screenings through a simple blood draw. Early detection saves lives, and we’re proud to be a part of that mission. #CommunityHealth #EarlyDetection #ProstateCancerAwareness

Communication is of utmost importance between APPs and the surgeons. Our patients in Vascular Surgery are often very debilitated, sick and/or complicated. They are often in pain or scared. As an APP in Vascular Surgery, we are able to help alleviate that pain and anxiety."

  • This APP Week, we celebrate our incredible Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and thank them for their contributions to the health and wellbeing of our patients. Join us as we spotlight APPs across VMFH all week, giving a peek behind the curtain into their impactful work. #NationalAPPWeek Meet Rhys Haydon, ARNP: "I worked at St. Anthony Hospital and was deeply inspired to become an APP by local primary care providers who would come and visit their patients. It was evident that the patients really felt cared for and were able to work with their PCP toward improving their health. Now, I try to meet patients at their level as far as goals and/or health language. Many people just need a little health education and then will either make changes or different choices to better their health. I love what I do and genuinely look forward to coming to work each and every day."
