Join us in congratulating our very own Trish Gitt, physician assistant at Virtua. This week, Trish is trading in her stethoscope for a field hockey stick as she'll be representing Team USA at the 2024 World Masters Hockey World Cup! The skills she’s learned on the field—teamwork, precision, and respect—translate seamlessly to the operating room. And we couldn't be more proud to have her on our team! Go Trish Go!
A huge thanks to our friends at the Domenica Foundation for dropping by our health sciences symposium last month to learn about health care careers! 15 Domenica Scholars, who have expressed an interest in health sciences careers, were introduced to a variety of Virtua departments. The scholars were also treated to a panel discussion from Virtua leaders who shared inspiring stories about their journey to health care. The Domenica Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life for underserved communities in South Jersey. They fund programs that provide education, food, housing, and other resources that open the door of opportunity and enable people to thrive. And we are so grateful to call them our friends. “We are so grateful to Virtua for this incredible opportunity for our high school students,” said Elena Piperno, executive director of the Domenica Foundation. “It’s wonderful to bring our community partners together! I am truly looking forward to seeing how our students apply today’s learnings to their academic and professional careers.”

This. Is. Halloween.👻🎃👻🎃 This year’s Spirit of Children Child Life Halloween Party was a joy-filled event for our pediatric team, patients, and their families, bringing spooktacular smiles to the hospital. From pumpkin painting to costume picking, there was something for everyone to enjoy! Since 2007, Spirit of Children has worked tirelessly to make hospitals a little less scary for kids and their loved ones. We’re incredibly grateful to partner with Spirit Halloween to help bring the magic of Halloween to the kiddos in our care.
Can we just tell you how much we love the Camden City EMT Program? For two years, we've been beyond proud to participate in this program, which brings together seniors from various Camden High Schools to complete their EMT training. And the best part? All training takes place during school hours, ensuring students can balance their education with all the senior year highlights. This program equips students with essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and communication—skills that will open doors to future careers in health care and beyond. A huge thanks to all the students, colleagues, and Camden City School District staff for participating in this important initiative!
