Here’s a “creepy” Halloween fact for you: The Standish Group found that 52% of projects experience scope creep. Eek! 🕷️ Seriously though, scope creep is a common challenge in project management, often leading to delays, cost overruns, and project failure. However, with the right project management practices, scope creep can be managed effectively. To prevent scope creep, it’s essential to define the project scope clearly at the outset and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned on the project’s objectives. Regularly reviewing the scope and managing changes through a formal change control process can also help keep the project on track. Don’t let scope creep derail your projects—implement strong project management practices to keep your projects on track and within scope.

The difference between a success and a failure isn’t just the work you put into a project. It’s also how your team shows up. And how your team shows up directly reflects on how you manage them. Is your team 👇 📉 Disengaged? 📉 Withholding? 📉 In conflict? These are signs your team may not be getting the support they need. On the other hand, is your team: 💎 Attentive? 💎 Curious? 💎 Excited? Building a high-performing project team requires more than just selecting the right individuals—it also involves creating a positive work environment where team members feel valued and supported. Effective team building involves setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect. By investing in team building, project managers can create a motivated and engaged team that is capable of achieving great results. What strategies do you use to build high-performing project teams?

Think you’re mature? How about your processes? 👇 The Project Management Institute reports that organizations with a high level of project management maturity achieve 28% more project success. Maturity in project management isn’t just about having the right tools and processes in place—it’s about developing a culture that prioritizes effective project management at all levels of the organization. Organizations with mature project management practices are better equipped to handle the complexities of modern projects. They have standardized processes, clear communication channels, and a focus on continuous improvement, all of which contribute to higher project success rates. The difference between a company with a mature project management process and one that’s still learning is adoption. Is everyone on your team using the same tools, or is their data at least in the same place? Aim to increase your organization’s project management maturity to boost your project success rates and achieve better outcomes. And get all your data in the same place, even if your people aren’t. (Visor is great for that!)

We hear it all the time: You can have the best project data in the universe. But if it isn’t presented in a way that resonates with your stakeholders, it means nothing. You need to have: 💼 Regular communication… but not blow up their comms 💼 Lots of details… but not get in the weeds 💼 A high-level overview… but stay grounded in reality And different stakeholders often want to see those things in different ways. You have to think tactically about how you approach your stakeholders if you want a project to succeed. Stakeholder management is a critical component of project success, as it ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on the project’s goals and progress. By effectively managing stakeholder relationships, project managers can prevent misunderstandings, manage expectations, and ensure that the project stays on track. It’s important to involve stakeholders in key decisions and keep them informed throughout the project’s lifecycle. And that means switching up how you do it. It’s not playing office politics, it’s just good business sense. 💡 How do you manage stakeholder relationships in your projects? We’ve got some ideas in the top comment. 👇
